LA Lakers
What a whimsical weekend in the world of sports!  I just love alliteration as if you couldn’t tell!  The playoffs kicked off in my favorite sport as the National Basketball Association was balling yesterday with four games in action as the 8th seeded Utah Jazz was pounded by #1 seed San Antonio Spurs 106-91 with a double-double from Tim Duncan as the Spurs take the first game in the series, the 3rd seeded LA Lakers literally spanked the 6th seeded Denver Nuggets 103-88 as Kobe Bryant blasted the Nuggets with 31 points as the Lakers go one up, 4th seeded Boston Celtics was crushed by the 5th seeded Atlanta Hawks 83-74 as Josh ‘Smooth’ Smith had a game high of 22 points and put in work in the paint with 18 rebounds and Hawks take the first game of series, while the Celtics may be without Rajon Rondo for the second game as he was arguing a call and bumped into a ref and was promptly ejected from the game and in the final game on Sunday, the 4th seeded Memphis Grizzlies had the game under complete control but the 5th seeded Lob City Clippers made their run and came back down from 20 to steal the game with Nick Young scoring 19 points to lead the series 1-0.  The winners in game one on Saturday were Miami Heat, the Oklahoma City Thunder, surprisingly the Orlando Magic and the Chicago Bulls.  However comma there two big losers as well as the Bulls lose their reining MVP Derrick Rose for remainder of the playoffs and several months thereafter with a torn ACL in his left knee and some experts feel the Bulls championship is over including yours truly and the NY Knicks also lose a valuable with the same injury in Iman Shumpert.

The National Hockey League was skating on the iceeee last yesterday as their playoffs continues as game one kicked off for the Eastern Conference semi-final with the New Jersey Devils losing to the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime 4-3 as Danny Briere scored 2 goals, but the most important goal came in overtime and in game two of the Western Conference semi-finals to the Flyers take a 1-0 series lead and the Nashville Predators was outskated by the Phoenix Coyotes 5-3 with a goal and assist from Ryan Suter to help the Coyotes take a crucial 2-0 series lead. The winners in game one in the conference semi-final were the New York Rangers and the LA Kings on Saturday.

There were a plethora of bats swinging in Major League Baseball with fifteen games on the diamond as the Detroit Tigers was out swung by the New York Yankees 6-2 as CC Sabathia notched his 3rd win, the Houston Astros lost by one run to the Cincinnati Reds 6-5 with a homerun from Joey Votto, the LA Angels were SHUT OUT by the Cleveland Indians 4-0, the Arizona Cardinals pounded the Miami Marlins 8-4, the Seattle Mariners were crushed by the Toronto Blue Jays 7-2 as Chone Figgins launched a homerun, while the Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Atlanta Braves 4-3, the Oakland A’s was mistreated by the Baltimore Orioles 5-2 as Wilson Betemit had walk off 3 run homerun and the Chicago Cubs blasted the Philadelphia Phillies 5-1with 10 strikeouts from Matt Garza to wrap up round one scores in baseball.

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans with a purse of $6.4 million was captured by Justin Dufner after two playoff holes against Ernie Els which was huge wedding gift to himself prior to getting married this weekend and Luke Donald finished third.

Chad Dawson proved to be too much for Bernard Hopkins as Dawson defeated Hopkins by a 12 round majority decision on Saturday night to claim the title and the belt in the WBC light heavyweight bout.

And finally, Rafael Nadal made history on the way to victory over David Ferrer in the Barcelona Open as Nadal became the first player in the Open Era to win two tournaments seven times.

NBA Playoffs, AAU H-Town Classic, Quick News & Notes: 4/29, Vol. One, 2nd Edition

Oh come magnify the Lord with me, whom the Son, He hath redeemed….clap your hands, rejoice, and sing, You are Lord of everything! Welcome back to your Special Spiritual Sports Segment on a Sunday on ceejaysports.com, where I give you your spiritually twisted sports….I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y., Le’ Go!

Gold Coast AAU H-Town Classic Champs
The National Basketball Association continued their playoffs today as the #1 seed San Antonio Spurs blasted the 8th seeded Utah Jazz 106-91to open a 1-0 series lead with a game high of 28 points from Tony Parker and Mr. Big Fundamental himself Tim Duncan, notched a double-double and my 3rd seeded LA Lakers manhandled the 6th seeded Denver Nuggets 103-88 as Kobe Bryant came back from resting a shin injury and promptly carved out 31 points against the Nuggets defense, Andrew Bynum had unconventional triple-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds and 10 gigantic blocks as he tied the most blocks in NBA playoff history and since this is the first game without suspended Metta World Peace, Devin Ebanks stepped up and chipped 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds to hopefully hold it down until Peace returns unto us however comma without the non-peaceful elbow, but I digress as the Lakers opened up a 1-0 series lead.

As mentioned in the first 1st Edition, the 2012 H-Town Classic AAU basketball game in Houston, TX had the final game that featured the Gold Coast Ballers from Miami, FL matchup against Corpus Christi Panthers and it was Gold Coast literally spanking Corpus Christi 81-57 as Mr. Efficient himself Luke Doyle was 4-5 from the field with a one three and finished with 8 points while the Sam ‘The Man’ Singer scored a game high of 16 points and dished out 5 assists and Cedric ‘Drive The Lane’ Hankerson almost ran out of room on the stat sheet as he collected a team high of 11 big boy rebounds.

For your quick new and notes, the Washington Redskins completed their quarterback overhaul Saturday, releasing quarterback John Beck, a team source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, former Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore has agreed to terms with the Detroit Lions as a rookie free agent after college football's all-time winning quarterback went undrafted on Saturday, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen and finally, Mohamed Sanu, former Rutgers wide receiver received a phone call in the 1st round that he was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals as the 27th pick however comma, it was all a prank.  But fortunately, Sanu was selected by the none other than the Bengals in the 3rd round and Sanu stated “thank God! I'm hysterically laughing about that right now.”

NBA & NHL Playoffs scores & AAU Tourney Semi Final in Hosuton - 4/29, Vol.1, 1st Edition

I’ve had my share of ups and downs, times when there was no one around, God came and spoke these words to me, praise will confuse the enemy.  Welcome to your Special Spiritual Sports Segment on a Sunday on ceejaysports.com, where I give you your spirituality twisted sports!

The playoffs kicked off yesterday in the National Basketball Association as the #2 seed Miami Heat literally spanked the #7 seeded New York Knicks 100-67 as the LeBron James lite up the scoreboard for 32 points, the top overall seed Chicago Bulls crushed the 8th seeded Philadelphia 76er’s 109-91, but it had to be the most somber lost as the Bulls lost their reigning MVP Derrick Rose, not only for the rest of the playoffs, but for the next several months as Rose tore his left ACL on a non-contact play with 1:22 left to play in the game and Rose will obviously miss the Summer Olympics in London. Many question head coach Tom Thiodeau for having Rose in the game that was under control but Thids stated “I don’t work backwards like you guys do…the score was going the other way.” My hometown Orlando Magic, who has the 6th seed surprisingly got past the 3rd seeded Indiana Pacers 81-77 with Glen “Big Baby” Davis chipping a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards, while Jameer Nelson and Jason Richardson each netted 17 points and in the final game, the 2nd seeded Oklahoma City Thunder eked out a one point nail bitter of the 7th seed and defending champion Dallas Mavericks 99-98 with Kevin Durant’s jumper with 1.5 seconds left in the game.

The National Hockey League had two playoff games on the frozen hard court as the New York Rangers opened a 1-0 series lead over the Washington Capitals 3-1 with a goal and an assist from Chris Keider in the Eastern Conference semi-finals and the LA Kings also had a score of 3-1 over the St. Louis Blues to take a 1-0 series in the Western Conference as with a goal and an assist from Dustin Penner.

Today I’m live at the 2012 H-Town Classic AAU 17U Boys Tournament with my good friend Ed Doyle from Orlando to watch his son Luke “Mr. Efficient” Doyle and his Gold Coast ballers out of Miami took on another team from Miami, Team Miami and at the start of the game, Gold Coast was like Team Kobe, Attacking Fast & Attacking Strong and opened a 22-4 lead, but Team Miami made their run and hurricane back as was only down by 6 points and of course, basketball is a game of runs and Gold Coast did just that and took control of the game Luke  Doyle netted 11 points, 3 rebounds, passed out 6 dimes and 2 blocked shots, Big Man Romas Marcinkevicius grabbed 7 boards and Sam ‘The Man’ Singer stole 2 and gave away 6 assists and Gold Coast put the shine on Team Miami 71-57 to advance to the finals.

2012 NFL Draft in NYC & NHL Playoffs Scores: 4/27, Vol. 130, 1st Edition

The splendor of a King, clothed in majesty, let all the earth rejoice, all the earth rejoice. He wraps Himself in light and darkness tries to hide, it trembles at His voice…so I ask, how great is our God? Good morning and welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel Radio better than when you heard it yesterday, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!  Le’ Go!

One of the most exciting days off the field took place last night under the bright lights of New York City at Radio city Music Hall, as the National Football League kicked off round one of the 2012 NFL Draft as there were a total of 8 trades made in the first round and the first round finished in record time. The first two picks were no surprise as Andrew Luck of Stanford was selected #1 overall by the Indianapolis Colts to replace their former legendary quarterback Peyton Manning and the 2nd pick went to the Washington Redskins as they selected Baylor University standout quarterback Robert Griffin, III.  The Cleveland Browns jumped up to the 3rd spot to select stellar running back from Alabama Trent Richardson, the Minnesota Vikings dropped from the 3rd spot to the 4th spot and still selected the player they coveted, Matt Kalil, offensive tackle from USC, the 5th pick witnessed the Jacksonville Jaguars selecting Justin Blackmon, wide receiver from Oklahoma State, while Morris Claiborne, corner back out of LSU was selected 6th, the 7th pick claimed another Crimson Tide out of Alabama as Mark Barron, safety was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  As everyone expected, Ryan Tannehill, quarterback from Texas A&M was selected 8th by the Miami Dolphins, the Carolina Panthers selected Luke Kuechly, inside linebacker from Boston College at #9 and rounding out the top ten picks is Stephon Gilmore, cornerback from South Carolina went to the Buffalo Bills.  On a local note, the Houston Texans selected Whitney Mercilus, defensive end out of Illinois at the 26th pick to replace dominating defensive end Mario Williams. The winners of the draft are as follows as the Minnesota Vikings as they received 3 picks from the Cleveland Browns and still landed they player they coveted, the New England Patriots made two excellent trades finally drafted a pass rusher and significant inside linebacker and the St. Louis Rams drafted a key defensive player and they have three second round selections to go along with two first-rounder’s each in 2013 and 2014. Now the losers in the first round were the Seattle Seahawks as the selected a player that some didn’t have being drafted in the second round, the Tampa Bay Bucs as the traded down and missed out on cornerback Morris Claiborne and the Denver Broncos were considered losers since they traded back and missed out on some really good players as well. The conference that won in the first round was the South Eastern Conference, as they had nine players drafted in the first round, which included four players in the top ten as that conference continues to churn out outstanding football players.  Round two and three of the draft will commence later tonight at 7p Eastern Standard Time on ESPN.

So here’s the $80k question…did your team get better? Pontificate on that!

Now on to the action on the court, frozen that is, as the National Hockey League had not one, but two game 7’s as the Ottawa Senators lost by one measly goal against the New York Rangers 2-1 as Dan Girardi and Mark Staal each scored a goal to the help the Rangers advanced to the conference semi-finals and in the second game, the New Jersey Devils needed double-overtime to knock off the Florida Panthers 3-2 as Adam Henrique scored two goals, but one crucial goal came in overtime to guide the Devils into the conference semi-finals.

R. Smith’s 22 points, the San Antonio Spurs got past the Golden State Warriors 107-101 with a double-double from Patty Mills scoring career high 34 points and passing out a career high 12 assists and the Sacramento Kings dusted the LA Lakers 113-96 with 23 points and 19 rebounds from DeMarcus Cousins as the Lakers rested their starters.  Excuse me…..I’m sad since my favorite sports regular season has come to and an end, but the Lord said let the playoffs begin on Saturday!  The matchups for round one in the Eastern Conference will witness the Chicago Bulls taken on the Philadelphia 76er’s, the Miami Heat opens up against the New York Knicks, while the my home-team Orlando Magic tries to make the Indiana Pacers disappear and the defending champion Dallas Mavericks battle the Oklahoma City Thunder and on Sunday in the Western Conference, the Utah Jazz match up against the San Antonio Spurs, the Denver Nuggets is pitted against my LA Lakers, the Boston Celtics will try to clip the wings of the Atlanta Hawks and the Lob City Clippers take on the Memphis Grizzlies.  Let the games begin as you either win or go home!

The bats were swinging in Major League Baseball as the Kansas City Royals notched their 2nd straight win against the Cleveland Indians 4-2 with 2 RBI’s from Mitch Maier, the San Francisco Giants eked out a one run win against the Cincinnati Reds 6-5 Angel Pagan homered in the 9th to help seal the deal, the Seattle Mariners knocked off the Detroit Tigers 5-4 as the Mariners broke out brooms and swept the Tigers, the Miami Marlins lose again to the New York Mets 3-2 as Kirk Niewenhuis drove in the winning run, while the LA Angels continue to struggle with Albert Pujos and lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 as Mark Trumbo launched a homerun and Rays walked off in fashion, the Washington Nationals was defeated by the San Diego Padres 2-1 as Mark Kotsay had a two run double to help seal the deal, the Baltimore Orioles out swung the Toronto Blue Jays 5-2 as Adam Jones went yard and the Boston Red Sox demolished the Chicago White Sox 10-3 as Kevin Youkilis provided a homerun.

In sporting news, general manager of the New Orleans Saints Micky Loomis finally spoke about his alleged wiretapping scandal and was livid and angry about the accusations and stated “I have never asked for the capability to listen to an opposing team's communications, I have never inquired as to the possibility of listening in on an opposing team's communications. And I've never been aware of any capability to listen in on an opposing team's communications at the Superdome or at any NFL stadium and frankly, I don't know who made the allegation and I'm angry about it.”

NHL Playoffs, NBA & MLB scores & Forbes Most Influential Athletes: 4/26, Vol. 129, 1st Edition

One day an angel said quietly, that soon he would bring something special to me, and of all those wonderful gifts he bring, who could imagine, who would imagine, who could imagine a king! Good morning and welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel Radio better than when you heard it yesterday, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!  Le’ Go!

There was only one game on frozen hard court last night in the National Hockey League, but it was a closeout game 7 so winner takes all and moves on to the next round as defending champion Boston Bruins WILL NOT defend their championship as the Washington Capitals slipped past the Bruins 2-1 in overtime as Matt Hendricks and Joel Ward each came up with a goal apiece to the help the Capitals to continue to skate in the playoffs.

Now that all playoff seeds are set in the National Basketball Association, many teams are resting their star players but games march on since some teams are trying to move up in seeding’s and some are playing for pride as the Washington Wizards crushed the Cleveland Cavaliers 96-85 as John Wall continues his hot streak with a game high of 21 points and he handed out 13 dimes, the Chicago Bulls knocked off the Indiana Pacers 92-87 with 20 points from Kyle Kover, the Charlotte Bobcats couldn’t handle J. J. Reddick’s career high of 31 points of the Orlando Magic and lost 102-95 as the Bobcats need to win their last game of the season tomorrow night to avoid having the worst win percentage in NBA history, if you think they can of can’t respond on Twitter @ #justonemoregame, the Philadelphia 76er’s edged out the Milwaukee Bucks 90-85 with a career high in points from Evan Turner to go along with his 13 boards, while the Lob City Clippers came up short against the New York Knicks 99-93 with 21 points from J. Things are going south in a hurry between current player’s union president Derek Fisher and executive director Billy Hunter as the story surfaced yesterday that Hunters’ family, his daughter, daughter-in-law and his son, all have received payments for work done through the union with their respective firms.  Now, it doesn’t appear anything illegal was done, but it allows Fisher to call into question the financial affairs of the union amongst others issues.  Washington Wizards Maurice Evans stated Hunter answered any questions presented to him, but the they were disappointed because Fisher hasn’t addressed them.  In addition, the union sent a memo that painted Fisher as rogue leader who was delinquent in his duties since the end of the lockout.  It appears the battle lines have been drawn.
