MLB2, NASCAR, PGA, LPGA, Boxing, ATP, MLS results & Quick News/Notes: 4/23, Vol. 126, 2nd Edition

For round two scores in Major League baseball, the LA Dodgers was literally spanked and SHUT OUT by the Houston Astros 11-0 with a grand slam from Jordan Schafer, while the Cleveland Indians lost to the Oakland A’s 5-1 with a homerun from Seth Smith, the Colorado Rockies was defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers 4-1, the Chicago White Sox outlasted the Seattle Mariners 7-4, Cincinnati Reds knocked off the Chicago Cubs 4-3, the New York Yankees and the Boston was postponed, the Philadelphia Phillies was blasted by the San Diego Padres 6-1 and the Atlanta Braves was defeated by the Arizona Diamonbacks 6-4 as Gerado Parra launched a grand slam.

Round and round they go! NASCAR Sprint Cup Series was in the land of Dorothy, Kansas that is, as Denny Hamlin managed to hold Martin Truex, Jr.’s late charge to capture the checkered and Jimmie Johnson finished third, while Matt Kensenth finished fourth and Greg Biffle finished fifth.

The golf clubs were swinging at the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio, TX with a purse of $6.2 million dollars and after a drought of six years without a PGA Tour victory, Ben Curtis hoisted the winner’s cup on Sunday with a final round score of 9 under par and Matt Every and John Huh finished tied for second and host of players finished tied for fourth.

The ladies of LPGA was in the Oahu, HI over the weekend in the Lotte Championship and Japan’s Ai Miyazato ran away with the title by four strokes with a 12 under par and Meena Lee and Azahara Munoz finished tied for second.

Friday Night Fights was held in Montreal for the scheduled 12-round super-middleweight bout at Bell Centre as Canadian Adonis Stevenson, who was defending his NABA, NABO and IBF Intercontinental titles said I don’t need 12, just give me 2 rounds as Stevenson knocked Uruguay’s Noe Gonzalez at 1:40 mark in the 2nd round to retain his multiple titles.

The ATP Monte Carlo Rolex Masters finals featured two familiar players as Novak Djokovic faced off against Rafeal Nadal and finally it was Nadal winning in a finals against Djokovic and basically dismantled him in straight sets 6-3 and 6-1.

And in Major League Soccer, DC United crushed the New York Red Bulls 4-1.
