New Orleans Hornets
wins 2012 Draft Lottery
The second game in the Eastern Conference Finals in the National Basketball Association tipped off last night as the Miami Heat were looking to go up 2 games to zero against the Boston Celtics, but the Heat found themselves down by 15 points in the 2nd quarter, but came storming back and needed overtime to outlast the Celtics 115-111 despite Rajon Rondo becoming the first player in NBA history to score 44 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds,  but LeBron James’ 34 points and 10 boards helped the Heat go up 2 games to none in the series.

It’s here, it’s here, it’s finally here as the Stanley Cup Finals skated with the puck last night and the LA Kings battled the New Jersey Devils and the Devils put up a fiery fight but needed overtime to try to game one in the Finals, but it was the Kings eking out a one goal win 2-1 to win the opening series.

The WNBA had two games on the hard court last night as the defending champion Minnesota Lynx got past the Washington Mystics as Lindsay Whalen had put back her own miss with 1 second left to win the game 79-77 and the Chicago Sky clobbered the San Antonio Silver Stars 77-63 as Sylvia Fowles poured in 23 points.

The bats were swinging yesterday in the American League with a couple few day games in Major League Baseballa as the Kansas City Royals knocked off the Cleveland Indians 6-3 , the Oakland A’s were SHUT OUT by the Minnesota Twins 4-0 with 9 strikeouts by Francisco Liriano, the Chicago White Sox won by a run 4-3 over the Tampa Bay Rays as Nate Jones got the win in relief, the Baltimore Orioles were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays 4-1 as all four runs came from 4 solo homeruns, while the Detroit Tigers were edged out by the Boston Red Sox 6-4 with the help of David Ortiz’s 12th homer, the New York Yankees edged out the LA Angels 6-5 as Curtis Granderson launched his 16th homer of the season and the Seattle Mariners literally spanked and manhandled the Texas Rangers 21-8 as Justin Smoak homered twice…man, that’s a football score!

For your London Summer Olympic News, with 58 days to go before the start of the London Games, the Olympic torch has travelled through Much Wenlock, a small town in central England credited as the birthplace of the Olympics in 1850, the president of the Syrian Olympic Committee says nine athletes from the war-torn country have qualified for the London Olympics and will compete "despite all pressures, media war and threats to ban them”, the International Volleyball Federation has dismissed claims of Japanese match-fixing at a London Olympics qualification tournament in Tokyo as they found no evidence after investigating whether the Japanese women's team deliberately lost against Serbia and finally, almost two years after Alberto Contador was stripped of the title for failing a doping test, Andy Schleck has his yellow jersey for winning the 2010 Tour de France.  Now that’s truly a better late than never……huh!

For your NBA Quick Dribbles, the New Orleans Hornets, recently sold by the NBA to New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson, won the NBA's draft lottery Wednesday and the # 1 pick overall, which they almost certainly will use to pick Kentucky star Anthony Davis, Rod Higgins said owner Michael Jordan of the Charlotte Bobcats, informed Patrick Ewing that the team plans to hire someone other than him to replace Paul Silas, the NBA's Basketball without Borders camps will go to Tokyo and Moscow for the first time and South Africa also will host a camp for the 10th time.

NL-MLB Scores, Stipend For College Players, NFL Quick Hits W/ Allen Asher: 5/31, Vol. 154, 2nd Edt'n

There's no sadness Jesus can't feel…and there is no sorrow that He cannot heal. For all things work according to the Master's holy will…no matter what you're going through, remember that God is only using You. For the battle is not yours, it's the Lord's!  Welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!

Stipend for college athletes??
The National League had it going on yesterday in Major League Baseball as the San Diego Padres lost 8-6 to the Chicago Cubs as Darwin Barney launched a walk-off homerun, the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates were embroiled in a pitcher’s duel but A. J. Burnett got the last laugh as the Pirates defeat the Reds 2-1, the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals were pasted by the Atlanta Braves 10 runs over the Cardinals 7 runs as Brian McCann & Freddie Freeman each belted a homerun, the Philadelphia Phillies also put up 10 runs to the New York Mets 6 runs with a the 8th homer of the season from Carlos Ruiz, while the Washington Nationals were defeated by the Miami Marlins 5-3 as Giancarlo Stanton went yard, the Houston Astros were literally spanked by the Colorado Rockies 13-5 as Carlos Gonzalez launched not one, not two, but thrrrrrreeee homeruns, the Milwaukee Brewers got the best of the LA Dodgers 6-3 and the Arizona Diamondback knocked off the San Francisco Giants 4-1.

In sporting news, South Carolina Gamecocks head ball coach Steve Spurrier still believes that college football players should receive some sort of stipend. Spurrier, who brought up the notion a year ago at the annual SEC spring meetings, pitched the topic once again. Spurrier would like to provide football players and other revenue producing sports such as men’s basketball, a stipend of $3,500 - $4,000 per year to and stated “we're trying to get extra money for living expense, academic expense, game-related expense to our players because of the tremendous amount of money, billions they're bringing in and we as coaches believe they're entitled to a little more than room, books, board and tuition.”

For your NFL Quick Hits,  Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones reiterated that he has no intention to trade disgruntled cornerback Mike Jenkins, adding that no draft pick could change his mind, arbitrator Steven A. Burbank of the University of Pennsylvania, has met with the NFL and the players' union in a dispute over commissioner Roger Goodell's authority to punish players in the New Orleans Saints bounties scandal and the player’s union also asked that Burbank, not Goodell, hear appeals by the four players that are suspended, New England Patriots draft pick Alfonzo Dennard has pleaded not guilty to assaulting a police officer outside a bar in Lincoln, where he played cornerback for Nebraska, ESPN analyst Kordell Stewart, who hasn’t played in years as a quarterback and other positions in the NFL, has finally filed his retirement papers and will retire as a Pittsburgh Steeler and finally, the Minnesota Vikings announced Wednesday that 24 year old cornerback Asher Allen has retired from football only after his third year in the NFL and coach Leslie Frazier didn't get into specifics of the conversation he had with Allen last week.  It is worthwhile to point out that Allen has suffered two concussions during his short tenure in the league.

In sporting news, Brian Banks, a star middle linebacker for Long Beach Polytechnic High School, had aspirations of playing in the National Football League and had offers from colleges such as Ohio State, University of Michigan among others and even verbally committed to the University of Southern California.  But that was a solid decade ago.  You see, Banks was prison half of that time, five years, after being convicted of rape in 2002.  The problem was the childhood friend that accused him of the crime wasn’t being truthful and Banks paid a steep price, not only the years lost from his life, but potentially a career in football.  Banks, who has been exonerated of the crime and his record wiped clean, is on the hunt on making that dream of playing in the NFL come true and stated “I think that any team that gives me an opportunity will be really impressed with what I can do despite all of what I've been through these past 10 years and it's been a struggle, but I'm unbroken, and I'm still here today.”  Mr. Banks, my prayer for you is that God blesses you not only with your dream of playing in the NFL, but take you to the highest of high’s the game has to offer.

NBA Playoffs, WNBA, AL-MLB scores & Shaq Staying Put: 5/25, Vol. 150, 1st Edition

When I can read my title clear…two mansions in the sky. I'll bid my farewell to all my friends…God said he would wipe my weeping eyes. This old building keeps on sinking and my soul has got to move, my soul has got to move, to another building not made by man's hands! Miami Heat send the
Indiana Pacers home
in Game 6
The physical Eastern Conference Semi-Finals continued last night in Game 6 in the National Basketball Association as the Miami Heat did not have Udonis Haslem who was suspended for the game battled the Indiana Pacers but they didn’t need him as Dwayne Wade lite up the scoreboard with 41 points and pulled down 10 boards and only needed 28 points from LeBron James to beat the Pacers 105-93 as the Heat claim the series and awaits the winner of the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76er’s series.

The playoffs in the National Hockey League were frozen for the night and will return on Friday night in a pivotal Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals featuring the New York Rangers trying to even the series against the New Jersey Devils who has a 3-2 series lead.

After a night off, the ladies of the B-Ball hard court was back in action with only one game on tap as the LA Sparks, the defending champions Minnesota Lynx, both entering the game undefeated through two games and it was the Lynx staying that way as they powered past the Sparks 92-84 with Semoine Augustus 25 points.

There were only three games on the diamond yesterday in the American League in Major League Baseball as the Minnesota Twins were hammered by the Chicago White Sox 11-8 as five White Sox notched a homer, the LA Angels SHUT OUT the Seattle Mariners 3-0 as Albert seems to have found his stroke with another homer and and Dan Haren pitched a complete game and struck out 14 batters and the Detroit Tigers lost by one measly run against the Cleveland Indians 2-1 as Shin-Soo Shoo belted a homerun, say that three times.

In sporting news, I reported yesterday that Shaquille O’neal could possibly be in communication with the Orlando Magic as they were interested in Dr. O’neal for their vacant GM position and Shaq came out with this statement “when I first heard about the vacancy for the Orlando Magic general manager position, I was clearly intrigued. I was drafted by the Magic, I have a great love for the franchise, and I have made the city of Orlando my home. Additionally, I have great admiration and respect for the DeVos family. However, this is not a job I have an interest in pursuing. I feel very fortunate to be with TNT and to have the best job in sports. I look forward to many more years with Charles (Barkley), Kenny (Smith) and E.J. (Ernie Johnson). I wish the best for the Magic and I am confident that they will select a great GM and coach.”

NL-MLB Scores, Olympic & NFL News, Charlie Sheen & Chad Ochocino: 5/25, Vol. 150, 3rd Edition

All in His hands, I put it all in His hands!  All of my burdens, all of my problems, if I have a question, he can solve it; I put it all, yes, I put it all; I put it all in His hands!  Welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!

Charlie Sheen buys
Lawrence Taylor's auctioned
Super Bowl ring
Major League Baseball had four games in the National League swinging their bats as the Atlanta Braves were trounced by the Cincinnati Reds 6-3 as Devin Mesoraco’s grand slam in the 6th inning proved to be the key to victory, the San Diego Padres clobbered the New York Mets 11-5 as Nick Hundley launched a homerun, the San Francisco Giants literally spanked the Miami Marlins like they stole some fish 14-7 as Giancarlo Stanton belted his 10th homer and the Washington Nationals put up 9 runs, but the problem was the Philadelphia Phillies put up 10 and got the win as  Ty Wigginton went yard.

For your London Summer Olympic News, General Electric extended its sponsorship with the U.S. Olympic Committee through 2020 in a deal that provides U.S. team doctors with groundbreaking technology to manage the health care of the athletes, Elmway Participacoes is disputing ownership of the land where the 2016 Olympic golf course is proposed to be built has asked a judge to annul all contracts and block construction on the land until a  higher court decides who owns the land and finally, the race for the 2020 Olympics will come down to a contest between Madrid, Tokyo and Istanbul after the International Olympic Committee trimmed the field earlier this week and again rejecting Doha's bid to take the Games to tiny Qatar.

For your NFL Quick Hits, NFL players union chief DeMaurice Smith says his group's claim of collusion will stand up in court  and the NFL issued a statement saying "the union's claims have absolutely no merit and we fully expect them to be dismissed”, New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks fractured his right foot Thursday during the team's second organized team activity of the offseason, the team announced, James Harrison of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have been fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for illegal hits and really doesn’t care for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says the NFL's players stand to benefit from Jonathan Vilma's defamation lawsuit against Goodell, even if the New Orleans Saints linebacker loses his fight and stated “it’s really a win-win, whether he wins the case or if he loses it….if he loses it, it shows that Goodell does have too much power and if he wins it, it opens up the floodgates”, Harris County Sports Convention Corporation, located in Houston, TX, chairman Edgar Colon said the county and Reliant Park plan to bid on the 2017 Super Bowl, Tim Tebow has an impressive résumé that includes a state championship in high school, two national championships in college to go along with his Heisman trophy and a playoff win in the NFL, however comma he experienced a football first Thursday as he wrapped up his first week as a special-teams player. In addition, Marc Sanchez looked sharp at quarterback yesterday but Tim Tebow was intercepted twice and I imagine training camp will be very, very interesting, Lawrence Taylor’s Super Bowl ring that was auctioned off last week was bought by another star who had his legal moments as Charlie Sheen, a noted sport enthusiast, purchased the ring for $230,000 and finally, New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco said he was "not trippin' " about losing his wallet, credit cards, license and iPod stolen when someone broke into his SUV Wednesday, but was inconsolable about his Starbucks gold card being stolen and his posted video tirade, Ochocinco mentioned I-hop where he ate breakfast and of course the aforementioned Starbucks card as he continues his marketing genius…..look out for future sponsorships.
