There were 8 games on the diamond in the National League in Major League Baseball as the Atlanta Braves was defeated by the Cincinnati Reds 4-1 as Mike Leake homered and struck out 8 batters, the Washington Nationals eked out a one run win against the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 as Ian Desmond launched his 7th homer of the season, the New York Mets lost 5-4 to the Pittsburgh Pirates with a homerun from Michael McKenry, the Colorado Rockies were outmuscled 7-4 against the Miami Marlins as Giancarlo Stanton launched his 9th homer and knocked out the lights on the scoreboard, the Chicago Cubs were blasted by the Houston Astros 8-4 as three Astros each notched a homerun, while the San Francisco Giants defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 in 14 innings with a homer in the 14th from Hector Sanchez, the San Diego Padres lost by a run to the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals 4-3 with Tyler Greene’s homer making the difference and the LA Dodgers molliwoped the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-1 with the Dodgers launching a homerun each.

After rain delayed the title match at the Italian Open pitting Rafael Nadal against his longtime rival Novak Djokovic, Nadal was too much for Djokovic and won in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 to win his record 6th Italian Open.

For your NBA Quick Dribbles, the LA Clippers say they are confident they'll be able to retain Chris Paul and Blake Griffin for the long term, BMO Harris Bank announced Monday that it bought naming rights to the home of the Milwaukee Bucks and Marquette men's basketball, which will now be known as the BMO Harris Bradley Center and the deal is part of a six-year, approximately $18 million partnership with several businesses, including Harley-Davidson, Kohl's, Northwestern Mutual and Rockwell Automation, the Golden State Warriors are close to making a deal to move to San Francisco, a source told ESPN the Magazine's Ric Bucher and finally, Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving of Cleveland and Knicks star Jeremy Lin are among 13 NBA players chosen to scrimmage against the U.S. men's Olympic basketball team in July.

Williams' trial on driving under the influence and traffic charges ended in a mistrial just hours after it began Monday after his lawyer objected to how jurors were selected.
