In sporting news, as the National Football League moves in the direction of making one the most violent games safer, the league has made thigh and knee pads mandatory equipment for the 2013 season.  Of course, this does not sit well with the players union as they believe the rule should be negotiated. And if a player enters the field of play without the proper equipment, he will be sent off the field by a game official.

For your Quick NBA Dribbles, Derrick Godfrey has been named the new chief executive officer of iHoops, the youth basketball organization of the NCAA and NBA, the New York Knicks are in the final stages of contract negotiations with Mike Woodson and are expected to make him their coach in the coming days, a source with knowledge of the negotiations told ESPNNewYork.com, Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers is the lone unanimous choice to the NBA's All-Rookie team with 58 points received and finally, 19-year-old Rodney Hill was arrested on complaints of shooting with intent to kill in connection to the Monday night fight in Oklahoma City's Bricktown entertainment district that left eight people injured shortly after the Thunder-Lakers NBA playoff game ended a few blocks away.

Four your NFL Quick Hits, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded tight end Kellen Winslow to Seattle and signed veteran Dallas Clark to a one-year deal, arbitrator Stephen Burbank upheld the NFL's salary cap reductions on the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins for this season and next as the Redskins lost $36 million over two years and the Cowboys lost $10 million for overloading contracts during the uncapped 2010 season despite warnings from the league, the NFL's International Committee has approved a five-year extension of the Buffalo Bills' agreement to play games in Toronto, giving the team permission to continue the series from 2013 to 2017, a league source said Tuesday, after the NFL suspended Houston Texans punter Brett Hartmann for violating its performance-enhancing drug policy, the league has given him permission to use the very substance he was penalized for, Ritalin and finally, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver can now add the mirrorball trophy to his Super Bowl ring after winning Dancing With The Stars.
