The National League had a plethora of games on the diamond yesterday on Memorial Day as the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals pounded the Atlanta Braves 8-2 as Lance Lynn struck out 8 to notch his 8th win, the Philadelphia Phillies knocked off the New York Mets 8-4 as Ty Wigginton belted a homer, the Washington Nationals was defeated by the Miami Marlins 5-3 with the 12th homer of the season from Giacarlo Stanton, the Cincinnati Reds were blasted by the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1 as the Pirates reached the .500 mark, the San Diego Padres were crushed by the Chicago Cubs 11-7, while in the first game of the day, the Houston Astros couldn’t handle the Colorado Rockies and lost 9-7 with a homer from Troy Tulowitzki, the Arizona Diamondbacks lost to the San Francisco Giants 4-2, the Milwaukee Brewers edged out the LA Dodgers 3-2 and in the double-header, the Houston Astros again lost to the Colorado Rockies 7-6 in 10 innings.
