Can we please let the man rest in peace?  In sporting news, Caroll Shelby, celebrated auto designer and race car driver passed away, check.  On May 10, 2012, check.  Shelby was one of the nation’s longest living heart transplant recipients, check.  Shelby’s body has been laid to rest? Not checked.  A custody battle is in progress over the remains of Shelby’s body as his son Michael, claims Shelby signed a document on February 8 and notarized to have his body cremated.  On the other hand, Cleo Shelby, the widow of Caroll Shelby, is claiming the signature is forged since Caroll Shelby didn’t have the ability to sign and she is the one that has the right to determine the funeral arrangements since she is the primary decision maker after Shelby executed a healthcare power of attorney after his 2010 stroke.  So, the courts will decide who has the right to Caroll Shelby’s body, which is wrapped in a body bag, preserved in a cooler and chilling at 36 degrees.

College Football Playoff, NBA News, MLB & WNBA Scores & Olympics: 6/27, Vol. 173, 1st Edition

Stand and be sure….be not entangled in that bondage again! You just stand and be sure! God has a purpose! Yes, God has a plan!  You just stand and be sure!  Good morning and welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel Radio better than when you it yesterday, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!  Le’ Go!

The way the Coach's Trophy
is won is changing in 2014
The landscape of college football continues to change especially with the Presidential Oversight Committee giving the green light yesterday on a new four team playoff system to determine the national champion.  The current BCS system as we know it, whether you like it or not, will disappear for good two years from now and the new system will be ushered in in 2014.  The new system will be in place for 12 years until the year of 2025 and the highlights are as follows: the four teams will be chosen by a selection committee, the semifinals will be held at current bowl sites and the national championship game will be awarded to the highest bidder.

Although the deal is approved, some of uncertainties are:
•           Who will be on the committee that selects seeded teams?
•           What format will the committee use to choose the seeded teams?
•           How will the money be split among the conferences?
•           Will teams from non-automatic qualifying conferences have access to the tournament?

Plenty of bats were swinging in the American League in Major League Baseball as they had seven games on the diamond as the LA Angels blasted the Baltimore Orioles 7-3 as the Angels used not 2, 4, 6, not even 8 but 17 hits and four homeruns to run away from the Orioles, the Cleveland Indians lost to the New York Yankees 6-4 as A-Rod went yard and Dewayne Wise, wisely fooled an umpire into thinking he caught a foul ball, straight trickery, the Toronto Blue Jays were pounded by the Boston Red Sox 5-1 as Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit his 14th homer, the Detroit Tigers couldn’t muster the win and lost to the Texas Rangers as Yu Darvish struck out 10 batters for his 10th win, while the Tampa Bay Rays were clobbered by the Kansas City Royals 8-2 with a homer from Jeff Francoeur, the Chicago White Sox eked out a one run win against the Minnesota Twins 3-2 with 9 strikeouts from Gavin Floyd and the Oakland A’s lost by a run to the Seattle Mariners 3-2 as Brendan Ryan’s RBI in the 8th inning eventually sealed the deal.

The Queens on the B-Ball court were balling last night with three games that tipped off as the Indiana Fever and the Atlanta Dream tipped off at noon and the Dream tipped off the Fever 70-58 as Angel McCoughtry scored a game high of 22 points, the Seattle Storm got past the Washington Mystics 79-71 as Sue Bird played angry and poured in 25 game high points and the LA Sparks not only molliwoped by the Tulsa Shock, but they were also UPSET 91-75 as rookie Riquana Williams scored a season high 27 points.

For your London Summer Olympic News, Brendan Hansen, who retired from the sport after the Beijing Games but couldn't stay away, made his comeback worthwhile by winning the 100-meter breaststroke at the U.S. Olympic trials Tuesday night along with Eric Shanteau, Janet Evans put up an enormous effort, but the queen of distance swimming failed to qualify for the final of the 400-meter freestyle, Olympic decathlon champion Bryan Clay says he won't pursue a spot on the Olympic team in London after faltering at the U.S. track trials, Serena and Venus Williams have been chosen to extend their unbeaten streak in Olympic doubles when they seek a third gold medal in the event beginning late next month, and finally, Dana Vollmer will return to the Olympics after missing out on the Beijing Games in 2008 after she won the 100 fly Tuesday night.

For your NFL Quick Hits, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees remains adamant that the NFL's bounty investigation has not proved money ever changed hands in a pay-to-injure scheme, something the league vehemently disagrees with, and in my opinion, the Saints received a warning a few years ago and something had to happen to trigger an investigation, since I’m sure the NFL will not make up truncated allegations, nonetheless comma I digress, after I reported yesterday that former Baylor basketball player Richard Khamir Hurd was arrested on charges of trying to extort money from rookie quarterback Robert Griffin, III of the Washington Redskins stated “there's vultures out there, people looking to climb on top of all your money”, Detroit Lions cornerback Aaron Berry faces DUI, failure to stop and render aid from an accident and other counts after driving his vehicle into several parked cars and attempting to flee, said Harrisburg police, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick offered words of wisdom to his new peers Monday at the NFL's Rookie Symposium and stated “to be accountable for everything you do. Justin Gatlin placed 1st
in Olympic trials
Now that we closed on the 2011-12 NBA season, which saddens my heart, Major League Baseball will now headline the start off the 1st segment as we highlight the scores in one National League game as the Chicago Cubs were blasted by the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-1 and in National League stadiums, the Atlanta Braves were hammered by the Boston Red Sox 9-4 with 2 homeruns from Cody Ross, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Washington Nationals 2-1, the Milwaukee Brewers were SHUT OUT by the Chicago White Sox 1-0 in 10 innings, while the defending champions St. Louis Cardinals outlasted the Kansas City Royals 11-8, the LA Dodgers lost to the LA Angels 5-3, the San Francisco Giants lost to the Oakland A’s 4-2 as Derek Norris belted a walk off homer for his first homerun and the Texas Rangers got past the Colorado Rockies 4-2.

The College World Series kicked off the finals last night with South Carolina trying to three peat as national champions, but they have some worked to do as they were pounded by Arizona 5-1 and game two is today at 8p EST.

Charley Hoffman was on his way to capture the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands with a $6 million dollar purse but he blew a 2 stroke lead on the final two holes that gave the victory to Marc Leishman.  Leishman, who had finished for the day and was in the club house eating and waiting to see where he would finish since he began the day 6 strokes behind the leaders and really didn’t he did enough to win….but he did as he won his first PGA tour victory with 14 a under par and Hoffman and Bubba Watson finished tied for second.

Brittany Lang captured her  first LPGA tour title by birdieing the par -5 three straight times in a four player playoff in the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic and Chella Choi, Hee Kyung Seo and Inbee Park all finished tied for second.

Track and Field had a huge weekend as several races determined teams that will represent the United States in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London as Justin Gatlin is back on the track after being suspended for four year for doping to win the 100 meters as Tyson Gay finished 6 tenths of second to place second and women for the 100 meters are in a conundrum as Allyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh finished in a dead heat and a coin toss or run-off will determine who came in third and solidify their spot on the Olympic team.

And speaking of the Olympics, for your London Summer Olympics, Aston Eaton set a personal best in the exhausting 1,500-meter finale and is now the world-record holder in the decathlon, former England soccer star Bobby Charlton carried the Olympic flame as it passed Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium on Sunday, Stephanie Brown Trafton won the discus at the U.S. track trials with a throw of 213 feet, 10 inches for a chance to defend her Olympic gold medal in London, Jenn Suhr cleared 15 feet, 1 inch to win the women's pole vault in the U.S. track trials for a return trip to the Olympics, and finally, Chris Colwill rallied from third place to win the men's 3-meter springboard to punch his ticket to the London Olympics.
