Game 3 of the NBA Finals tipped off in South Beach last night as the Miami Heat were looking to take advantage of home court and put a little more heat on the Oklahoma City Thunder and they did just that as the knocked off the Thunder 91-85 as LeBron James lead the charge in the 4th quarter and finished with a double-double and poured in a game high of 29 points and 14 boards and Dwayne Wade netted 25 points in the win.

The College World Series had a couple games on the diamond last night as the Florida State Seminoles literally spanked the Stoney Brook Seawolves 12-2 to end their Cinderella run and the UCLA Bruins were SHUT OUT by the Arizona Wildcats as Konner with a K Wade tossed a 5 hit shutout.

The ladies were getting their dribble on in the WNBA as they had three games on the hard court as the Connecticut Sun barely got past the Atlanta Dream 75-73 as Tina Charles dominated the game with 23 points and 22 glass grabbing rebounds, the Phoenix Mercury were crushed by the Tulsa Shock 87-75 as with the help of Temeka Johnson’s 22 points to give the Shock their first win of the season and the Seattle Storm got past the defending champion Minnesota Lynx 65-62 with 21 points from Sue Bird.

Major League Baseball had one National League on the diamond as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the New York Mets 3-1 as Johnny Cueto struck out 8 batters and games were plentiful in the American League stadiums for Interleague games as the Pittsburgh Pirates had no problems with the Cleveland Indians 9-5 as Pedro Alvarez had a huge night with 2 homeruns and 6 RBI’s, the Detroit Tigers SHUT OUT and the blasted the Colorado Rockies 5-0 Max Scherzer struck out 12 batters, the Philadelphia Phillies were mistreated by the Toronto Blue Jays 6-2 as the Blue Jays sweep the series, the Miami Marlins were SHUT OUT by the Tampa Bay Rays 3-0 with a homer from BJ Upton, while the Milwaukee Brewers needed 15 innings but came up a weeee bit short and lost to the Minnesota Twins 5-4, the Texas Rangers demolished the Houston Astros 9-3 with the help of 7 runs in the 6th inning, the LA Angels SHUT OUT the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-0 with a homer from Albert Pujos, the San Diego Padres defeated the Oakland A’s 2-1 and the Seattle Mariners defeated the San Francisco Giants 2-1 as Justin Smoak drove in the game winning run  in the 9th inning.

In sporting news, after 11 seasons in the National Football League which included 9 seasons with the San Diego Chargers that highlighted being a MVP in 2009, running back LaDainian Tomlinson will officially announce his retirement today.  Tomlinson will finish his career as the Chargers fifth leading rusher with a career total of 13,684 yards and 145 touchdowns, which is second all time.
