UCONN out of March Madness
next year
Major League Baseball had had seven games swinging their bats in Interleague games in National League stadiums as the Kansas City Royals edged out the Houston Astros 2-1 with Alex Gordon’s score in the 6th inning to prove to be the game winning run, the Milwaukee Brewers blasted the Toronto and speaking of the long ball, the game between the Seattle Mariners and the Arizona Diamondbacks had a total of 8 homeruns between the two teams as the Diamondbacks scored 14 runs to the Mariners 10 runs, the Texas Rangers got past the San Diego Padres 4-2 with 8 strikeouts from Yu Darvish, while the Tampa Bay Rays lost to the Washington Nationals 3-2 as Stephen Strasburg notched his 9th win, the Minnesota Twins eked out a one run win against the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1as Josh Willingham belted a homerun in the 8th inning that ultimately sealed the deal and the Baltimore Orioles were swept by the New York Mets 4-3 with 9 strikeouts from Dillon Gee.

Rain, rain, go away….and you know the rest.  There was one game scheduled last night for the College World Series, but the as intro eluded, it was postponed due to rain and Kent State and South Carolina today at 1p EST and the winner will have to play a second game later tonight against Arkansas at 9pm EST.

In sporting news, college basketball will have ten fewer teams during March Madness next year due to the NCAA new academic requirements.  The NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate otherwise known as APR requires a score of 900 during a four year period that measures classroom performance of every Division I school and the data collected for this year were calculated from the 2007-08, and 2010-11 school years.  The biggest name that will miss out on the madness next is UCONN, the first school from the big six conferences to be banned and other schools on the list are Arkansas-Pine Bluff, California-Riverside, Cal State Bakersfield, Jacksonville State, Mississippi Valley State, North Carolina-Wilmington, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Toledo and Towson.  It is worthy to note that Cal State may be removed from the list since there is still being evaluated.

For your London Summer Olympic News, Rafael Nadal will carry the flag for the Spanish Olympic team at the London Games and Oscar Pistorius has been selected for South Africa's Paralympics team as expected, as the double-amputee sprinter seeks to also qualify for the London Olympics and he is aiming to become the first amputee sprinter to compete at the games and

For your NFL Quick Hits, as wide receiver Percy Harvin expresses his unhappiness with Minnesota Vikings, the Vikings have "no interest at all in trading" the receiver, general manager Rick Spielman said Wednesday, New Orleans Saints interim head coach Joe Vitt says he called NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday morning and offered to take a lie detector test to prove that the league's bounty allegations against him are false, the San Francisco 49ers have signed top draft pick wide receiver A.J. Jenkins to a four-year contract, safety O.J. Atogwe has signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, and finally, the Houston Texans have won the Pete Rozelle Award for the best media relations department in the NFL for the third time.
