There was only one National League in Major League Baseball as the Milwaukee Brewers eked out a one run win against the San Diego Padres 6-5 with Ryan Bruan’s 15th homer of the season and in Interleague games in National League stadiums, the Detroit Tigers also eked out a one run win 7-6 over the Cincinnati Reds with a homerun from Austin Jackson, the Toronto Blue Jays literally spanked the Atlanta Braves 12-4 with a homerun from Colby Rasmus, the Cleveland Indians defeated the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals 4-1 as Jason Kipnis belted a homer in the 9th inning, while the LA Angels got past the Colorado Rockies 10-8 with Mark Trumbo’s 2 homers, the Texas Rangers SHUT OUT and clobbered the San Francisco Giants 5-0 and the Oakland A’s lost by a run to the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3.

With 3 laps remaining, Joey Logano bumped Mark Martin out of the way after Martin had taken the lead with 8 laps remaining and Logano went on to capture the checkered flag at NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series at Pocono for his first win since 2009, while the aforementioned Martin placed 2nd, Tony Stewart came in 3rd, Jimmie Johnson rolled into the 4th position and Denny Hamlin round out the top 5.  NASCAR’s Camping World Truck series witnessed Johnny Sauter becoming the 7th driver to win the first 7 races as he captured the checkered flag at the WinStar World Casino 400.

The clubs were swinging in the FedEx St. Jude Classic at the TPC Southwind in Memphis, TN with a purse of $5.6 million dollars as Dustin Johnson won his first event after almost three months from the tour with a back injury with a 9 under par, one shot better than John Merrick, who placed 2nd, and a quarto of players that included Chad Campbell, Nick O’Hern, Davis Love, III and the Ryan Palmer all tied for third.

There was one Major League Soccer game yesterday as the Vancouver Whitecaps mustered past the Houston Dynamo 3-1.

The Florida Gators got past North Carolina State 9-8 in 10 innings and will either face off against South Carolina or Oklahoma in opening round game in the College World Series and Arizona earned their first trip to the big diamond by defeating St. John’s 7-4.

For your London Summer Olympics, Fusain Bolt was involved in a minor car crash shortly before dawn Sunday in his Caribbean homeland of Jamaica but was not hurt, according to the publicist for the world's fastest man, Tyson Gay made his return to competition one month before the Olympics and won his ‘B’ 100 meters in 10.0 seconds, world vault champion McKay Mahoney did not compete in the finals of the U.S. gymnastics championships on Sunday afternoon after hitting her head on the floor during training and was taking to the hospital after showing signs of a concussion, Jordan Wiener, the reigning world champion, earned her second straight U.S. title Sunday in the balanced beam, and finally, thousands of London bus workers have voted to go on strike ahead of the 2012 Olympics, saying they want a premium or bonus of $775 for working during the Games.
