Kayode fight to a draw
They ran the bases in Major League Baseball in the National League as the defending champs St. Louis Cardinals were clobbered by the New York Mets 6-1 with 3 RBI’s from Kirk Nieuwenhuis, the Atlanta Braves eked out a one run win against the Washington Nationals 3-2, the Miami Marlins ousted the Philadelphia Phillies 5-1 as Carlos Zambrano not only got the win but also belted a homerun, the Cincinnati Reds were defeated by the Houston Astros 5-3 with a homerun from Justin Maxwell, the LA Dodgers lost to the Colorado Rockies 3-2 as they swept the Dodgers, while the Chicago Cubs SHUT OUT the San Francisco Giants 2-0 as Barry Zito notches his 150th career win and the Arizona Diamondbacks SHUT OUT and annihilated the San Diego Padres 6-0 as Trevor Cahill tosses the complete game shut-out.

The Ladies of the WNBA had five games on tap yesterday as the Washington Mystics were defeated by the Connecticut Sun 94-86 as Tina Charles lite up the scoreboard for 30 points, the New York Liberty demolished the Indiana Fever 87-72 to get their first win of the season with 25 points from Cappie Pondexter, the Phoenix Mercury got the win 79-72 over the Tulsa Shock 79-72 with a double-double from DeWanna Bonner with 23 points and 13 glass grabbing rebounds, while the defending champions Minnesota Lynx remained undefeated as they got past the San Antonio Silver Stars 83-79 with 17 points from Rebekkah Brunson and the LA Sparks edged out the Seattle Storm 67-65 with a double-double from Candace Parker as she scored 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The French Open is getting down to the red clay nitty gritty as the 4th round concluded with top seeded Novak Djokovic had to go the distance against 22nd seeded Andreas Seppi, but got the win 4-6, 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 and 6-3 and the 3rd seeded Roger Federer outlasted David Goffin in four sets 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 and 6-4, while the ladies had four matches and 6th seeded Samantha Stosur won against Sloane Stephens in straight sets, 15th Dominika Cibulkova defeated and got the upset win over top seeded Victoria Azarenka, while Sara Errani won against Svetlana Kuznetsova in straight sets and Angelique Kerber got the win in straight sets over Petra Martic.

Antonio Tarver needed some late round heroics to avoid getting the lost against unbeaten cruiserweight Lateef Kayode as both men fought to a draw as Kayode retains his WBO cruiserweight belt and middleweight Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillin remained undefeated as he won a unanimous  decision over Winky Wright, Austin Trout retained his WBA super welterweight title against Delvin Rodriguez and Leo Santa Cruz obtained the vacant IBF title ove Vusi Malinga.

For your London Summer Olympic News, Michael Phelps erased the pool record that was also his first world record with a finish of 1 minute, 54.79 seconds in Sunday's 200-meter butterfly final, the World Anti-Doping Agency is proposing that athletes found guilty of serious doping offenses could be banned from the next Olympics, Anthony Ervin, the 2000 Olympic champion, won the 50-meter freestyle at the Santa Clara Grand Prix swim meet Saturday and finally, Wilson Kiprop won the 10,000 meters at the Kenyan Olympic trials held at the Prefontaine Classic on Friday night and finished in a world-leading time of 27 minutes, 1.98 seconds as he beat his personal best by nearly 25 seconds.
