Team USA rocks the
Dominican Republic
Although the NBA season had concluded, USA Basketball was back in action in preparation for the London Summer Olympics as Team USA was pitted against the Dominican Republic in Las Vegas and let me ya, Team USA not literally spanked Dominican Republic however comma they also ran out of them gym and ran them out of the city with a score of 113-59, let me get me calculator, let’s see, carry the one….wow, that’s a 54 point spread as Kevin Durant put in a double-double off the bench with 24 points and 10 rebounds and rookie big man Anthony Davis put in little work even scoring a 4 point play off of 3 pointer, in which he was fouled.  As the team celebrated the pre-determined win, news trickled down that Blake Griffin, who injured his knee will not be on Team USA.
The Ladies of the Basketball World in the WNBA had two games on the hard-court as the Tulsa Shock was walloped by the Minnesota Lynx 89-74 as Maya Moore had the nets singing with 28 season high points and she scored a franchise record of 19 points in the 2nd quarter as she outscored the entire Tulsa team by 2 points…wow, sister was puttin’ in work and the LA Sparks got past the Indiana Fever 77-74 as rookie Nneka Ogwumike was balling with 22 points and 20 glass grabbing rebounds, with 12 offensive rebounds which tied a WNBA record.
Louis Freeh discussing his report
on Penn State
In sporting news, after an eight month inquiry, the highly anticipated Freeh Report, in which former director of the FBI Louis Freeh, who was hired by Penn State to conduct an internal investigation, was released yesterday, all 267 pages.  In the report, it points the finger directly at Penn State officials and former football coach Joe Paterno for basically turning a blind eye and hidding critical facts in the sexual abuse of boys by retired coach Jerry Sandusky.   Freeh stated in part “our most saddening and sobering finding is the total disregard for the safety and welfare of Sandusky's child victims by the most senior leaders at Penn State and the most powerful men at Penn State failed to take any steps for 14 years to protect the children who Sandusky victimized.”  As the day went on, many have weighed in on the legacy of the late Paterno and that debate or fiery conversation will go on for quite some time.  In the meantime, the president of Nike Inc. said Thursday he has decided to change the name of the Joe Paterno Child Development Center, a child care facility at the company's headquarters outside Portland and new name has not been released.
For your NBA Quick Dribbles, the Charlotte Bobcats have agreed to a two-year, fully guaranteed contract with former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Ramon Sessions, the Toronto Raptors and the representative for veteran guard Jose Calderon are working together to try to find a new home for Calderon via trade after Kyle Lowry was added to the roster, Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is walking without a brace and is ahead of his rehab schedule, his brother and manager Reggie Rose said on Thursday, the Minnesota Timberwolves used their amnesty designation to waive center Darko Milicic and submitted an offer sheet to Portland Trail Blazers restricted free agent Nicolas Batum, the Philadelphia 76ers have used the amnesty clause on veteran forward Elton Brand and will get about $18 million in salary cap relief for next season, Oklahoma City Thunder starting center Kendrick Perkins is expected to be ready for next season after having surgery on his right groin Thursday, Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan said last season was the most difficult he's endured in basketball….well, duh! After a season with a record of 7-59, the worst winning percentage in NBA history, I would have to concur. Huh?!
