A-Rod breaks hand
from a pitch
Major League Baseball had seven games on the diamond in the American League last night as the Tampa Bay Rays outlasted the Baltimore Orioles 3-1 as Jeremy Hellickson notched his 1st win in 10 starts, the Detroit Lions got past the Cleveland Indians 3-2, the Oakland A’s walloped the Toronto Blue Jays 7-2 as Dereck Norris launched a homerun, the Boston Red Sox avoided the sweep and got past the Texas Rangers 2-1 as Mike Aviles broke the tie in the 9th, while the Minnesota Twins were literally spanked by the Chicago White Sox 11-4 as Adam Dunn belted his MLB leading 30th homerun, the Kansas City Royals defeated the LA Angels 4-1 as Lorenzo Cain went yard and the New York Yankees lost 4-2 to the Seattle Mariners as Michael Saunders belted his 10th homer, but Alex Rodriguez broke his left hand from a pitch from Felix Hernandez in the 8th inning.
The final tune up game before the start of the London Games played on yesterday as USA Men’s Basketball took on the team that most figure they would face in the gold medal round, but also give them their biggest challenge as they battled Spain as the game was close until Team USA opened things up in the 2nd half and took control for good as they routed Spain 100-78 behind Carmelo Anthony’s 27 points.
