NFL w/ Elvis Dumervil, MLB Scores, NFL Legacy Fund & Olympic News: 7/17, Vol. 187, 2nd Edition

You deserve the glory and all the honor and I lift my hands in worship and glorify your name!  Welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y.

Elivs Dumervil arrested

Just like their American League counterpart, the National League also had six on tap last night as the Arizona Diamondbacks got past the Cincinnati Reds 5-3 with a homerun from Miguel Montero, the Washington Nationals lost to the Miami Marlins 5-3 with help of Hanley Rameriz’s homer, the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 as the Cardinals rallied in the 9th, while the Pittsburgh Pirates lost by a run to the Colorado Rockies 5-4, the Houston Astros SHUT OUT the San Diego Padres 2-0 and the Philadelphia Phillies knocked off the LA Dodgers 3-2 as Ryan Howard made his presence felt with a homerun.
With plenty of disagreements over the past several months, the NFL and the NFL Player’s Association did agree on something, the NFL Legacy Fund.  The Legacy Fund provides benefits to widows and other survivors of players from before 1993 and the agreement calls for an extended package worth $15.2 million dollars.  Eligible beneficiaries will receive an increased amount than what they were receiving retroactive to August 1, 2011 and those checks will arrive within the next two weeks and start receiving monthly benefits starting on August 1.  Both parties agreed that the NFL will pay 51% and the NFLPA will pay 49%.
For your London Summer Olympic News, United States women's basketball point guard Sue Bird did not play in the U.S. exhibition game against Brazil on Monday night because of a death in the family….may God provide comfort for her and her family, gunmen abducted the president of the Libyan Olympic Committee, Ahmed Nabil al-Taher al-Alam in the nation's capital of Tripoli, grabbing him from his car and bundling him into a waiting vehicle, his brother said Monday, athletes, officials and media from all over the world poured into Heathrow Airport on Monday for the London Olympics, the first wave of a record number of passengers expected to pass through Europe's largest airport for the games that set to begin July 27, and finally, the Lithuanian Weightlifting Federation says Aurimas Didzbalis has been suspended after failing a doping test and will miss the Olympics and was Lithuania's best hope for a medal at the London Games. Remember kids….Say Nope To The Dope ‘Cause You Will Lose All Hope Since The Dope Ain’t No Joke! Huh?!
For your NFL Quick Hits, the Baltimore Ravens signed Ray Rice to a new five-year contract Monday worth roughly $40 million dollars, the Chicago Bears have signed running back Matt Forte to a four-year contract which a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter is worth roughly $32 million and the deal contains more than $18 million dollars in guarantees, Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee has signed a four-year contract worth between $13.8 million and $14.2 million, making him one of the NFL's highest-paid kickers, after turning himself in, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was arrested Monday on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge against a family member in DeSoto TX police confirmed, the California Highway Patrol says Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was arrested in the Oakland area for investigation of DUI, and finally, police say the arrest of Denver Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil was preceded by a road-rage incident in which Dumervil and another man allegedly lifted their shirts and displayed firearms to people in another vehicle.  Dude what were you thinking….huh?!
