Joe Paterno statue then.....

That old saying of what goes up, must come down was reverberated early Sunday morning as the 7 foot, over 900 pound bronze statue of the late Joe Paterno was taken down after President Rod Erickson decided it was time as the statue will remain in unnamed, secured location.  Ironically, the statue was taken down on the six month anniversary of the passing of Paterno and days after The Freeh Report and I’m certain days to come after the statue was taken down, many will debate, converse and pontificate over the decision to remove the statue.  In his decision to remove the statue Erickson stated “I now believe that, contrary to is original intention, Coach Paterno's statue has become a source of division and an obstacle to healing in our university and beyond and for that reason, I have decided that it is in the best interest of our university and public safety to remove the statue and store it in a secure location.”
