USA B-Ball, MLB, NASCAR, PGA, LPGA, MLS Results & Olympic News: 7/9, Vol. 181, 2nd Edition

Tony Stewart wins Coke 400
     The National League in Major League Baseball were running the bases as the Chicago Cubs SHUT OUT and annihilated the New York Mets 7-0, the Atlanta Braves knocked off the Philadelphia Phillies 4-3, the Colorado Rockies also had a score of 4-3 over the Washington Nationals, the Pittsburgh Pirates manhandled the San Francisco Giants 13-2 as Andrew McCutchen belted to 2 homeruns, the Milwaukee Brewers got past the Houston Astros 5-3 in 10 innings, while the Miami Marlins lost by a run to the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals 5-4 with a 3 run rally in the 9th by Rafeal Furcal, the Cincinnati Reds defeated the San Diego Padres 4-2 and the LA Dodgers were outmuscled by the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-1.
     They were speeding on the track in NASCAR at the Coke Zero 400 as Matt Kensenth was primed to get a win but Tony Stewart had other plans as he charged past Kensenth on the last lap to capture the checkered flag in as a wrecked stacked up behind him and Jeff Burton came in 2nd, Matt Kensenth claimed 3rd, Joey Lagano rolled into the 4th spot and Ryan Newman round out the top five finishers.
     The Greenbrier Classic with a $6.1 million dollar purse had some a little drama over the weekend as Ted Potter, Jr. and Troy Kelly had settle who would win in a playoff and Potter step up the plate and drained a 4 foot birdie putt on the 3rd hole to secure his first ever PGA Tour victory as Kelly settled for 2nd and Charlie Beijan and Charlie Wi tied for 3rd.
     The U. S. Women’s Open as Blackwolf Run wrapped up this past weekend with a purse of $3.25 million dollars as Na Yeon Choi cruised to a win with a 7 under par, 4 strokes better than Amy Yang, who placed 2nd and Sandra Gal who came 3rd.
     Major League Soccer had a couple few games last night as the Chicago Fire was SHUT OUT by the LA Galaxy 2-0, the Philadelphia Union SHUT OUT Toronto FC 3-0, the New England Revolution SHUT OUT the New York Red Bulls and the last game was an odd ball since they did not have a shut out however comma Montreal Impact outlast the Columbus Crew 2-1.
     For your London Summer Olympic News, USA Basketball rounded out their roster Saturday, adding Blake Griffin, Andre Iguodala and James Harden to help bring back gold from London and Poland beat the United States 25-17, 26-24, 25-20 on Sunday to win its first gold medal in the World League volleyball finals and the US claimed silver.
