Ladies Night w/ the MMA, LPGA, WTA & WNBA & NL-MLB & MLS Scores: 8/20, Vol. 210, 2nd Edition

I've come through the fire, I've come through the rain, but God, He never left my side, He's my comfort through all hurt and pain…and I am souled out and my mind is made up!  Welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y.!

Rhonda Rousey forced a Tap Out
as she defended her title
It was Ladies Night and they were out of sight as they got their game on MMA, LPGA, Tennis and the WNBA as I kick off this Sports Segment with Strikeforce at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego as the Remarkable Rhonda Rousey, alliteration, I love it, didn’t need the 3rd round, not even the 2nd round and barely need the 1st round as she dropped Sara Kaufman with several jabs and the segued into her signature armbar move and Kaufman Tapped Out in only 54 seconds as Rousey successfully defended her title for the first time.
The Ladies in the LPGA wrapped the Safeway Classic at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, OR with a $1.5 million dollar purse and after four years on the tour Japan’s Mika Miyazato won her first LPGA tour event with a 13 under and Brittany Lincicome and Inbee Park both finished tied for 2nd at 11 under par.
China’s Li Na wanted to strike a pose like Roger Federer who just won the men’s version of the Cincinnati Title but she had to shake off a rough start against Angelique Kerber but did just that in three sets 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 to capture the Western & Southern Open.
The Wonderful Women of the WNBA was ballin’ yesterday as the Chicago Sky was defeated by the Washington Mystics 75-71 in a triple overtime thriller with Matee Ajavon leading the way with 22 points, the San Antonio Silver Spurs literally spanked and totally embarrassed the Phoenix Mercury 89-47 as Becky Hammon had 19 points in the 1st half alone and the Tulsa Shock was simply befuddled by the Minnesota Lynx 83-59 as gold medalist Mya Moore was getting her game on with a double-double as she scored a game high of 22 points, reigned in 10 rebounds and threw in 6 dimes just for good measure.
There were eight games in the National League swinging their bats in Major League Baseball as the Chicago Cubs lost one measly run 5-4 to the Cincinnati Reds as Xavier Paul lead off the 9th with a triple and Ryan Hanigan wanted in on the party with a walk off single, the LA Dodgers SHUT OUT and blasted the Atlanta Braves 5-0 with a homer from Luis Cruz, the New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals 5-2 as Bryce Harper homered, the Arizona Diamondbacks clobbered the hapless Houston Astros 8-1 with 2 homers from Aaron Hill, while the Philadelphia Phillies literally spanked the Milwaukee Brewers 8-0 with 8 strong innings from Kyle Kendrick and 8 strikeouts, after 6 hours and 7 minutes and 19 loooong innings, the Pittsburgh Pirates basically outlasted the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals 6-3 as Pedro Alaverez homered in the 19th and Andrew McCutchen added a 2 run single to get the win and the Miami Marlins lost by a run 3-2 to the Colorado Rockies with a homer from Jordan Pacheco.
Major League Soccer was kicking around last night as DC United played to a 1-1 tie against the Philadelphia Union, the New York Red Bulls got past the Portland Timbers 3-2 and Houston Dynamo couldn’t shake the Columbus Crew as they finished game tied 2-2
