Lance Armstrong @ World Cancer Congress, AL MLB & US Open Results & NBA Quick Dribbles: 8/30, Vol. 218, 1st Edition

No rules, no religion, I’ve made my decision to run to you, the healer that I need. Lay me at the throne and leave me there alone, to gaze upon your glory and sing to you this song. Take me to The King, I don’t have much to bring….my hearts torn to pieces, it’s my offering. Good morning and welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema on Gospel Radio better than when you it yesterday! I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!  Let’s Get It Started!

Lance Armstrong delivers
speech at The World
Cancer Congress
Major League Baseball was jammed packed with games on the diamond last night starting with the American League as the Toronto Blue Jays outlasted the New York Yankees 8-5 as Yunel Escobar was ballin’ last night with a 2 run homer and 3 doubles as he drove in count ‘em 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 RBI’s, the Chicago White Sox annihilated the Baltimore Orioles 8-1 with 3 RBI’s from Gordon Beckham, the Oakland A’s powered past the Cleveland Indians 8-4 with a 3 run homer from Josh Donaldson, the Tampa Bay Rays muscled past the Texas Rangers with a 8-4 score as well with not one, but 2 homers from Evan Longoria, while the Detroit Tigers were SHUT OUT 1-0 by the Kansas City Royals with a 8 strong innings from Bruce Chen, the Seattle Mariners were SHUT OUT and literally spanked by the Minnesota Twins 10-0 as Josh Willingham blasted his 32nd homer and Samuel Deduno struck out a career high 9 batters in 7 innings of work and the Boston Red Sox were demolished by the LA Angels 10-3 as Kendrys Morales launches his 17th homer.
The 2012 US Open showcased the 2nd round for the women and Kim Clijsters was upset by unseeded Laura Robson 7-6, 7-6 as she has played her last singles match and other notable winners that advanced were Li Na, Petra Kvitova, Samantha Stosur, Victoria Azarenka, Jie Zhang, Nadia Petrova, Lucie Safarova and Maria Sharapova.
The World Cancer Congress kicked off yesterday in Montreal, Canada as Lance Armstrong opened his speech by saying “My name is Lance Armstrong. I am a cancer survivor. "I'm a father of five. And yes, I won the Tour de France seven times.”  The congress came on the heels of Armstrong announcing last week that he will no longer fight doping charges and the U. S. Anti-Doping Agency stripped him of those seven wins.  But Armstrong, who maintains his innocence, donated an addition $500,000 to a joint venture aimed at giving more access to cancer care around the world.
For your NBA Quick Dribbles, free-agent center Eddy Curry and agent center Hilton Armstrong, who played in France last season, both reportedly worked out with the Brooklyn Nets on yesterday, a source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com, swingman Martell Webster has signed a free-agent contract with the Washington Wizards, who last played with the Minnesota Timberwolves last season, averaging 6.9 points and 3.6 rebounds, and finally, the Indiana Pacers have promoted Peter Dinwiddie, who previously served as the team's director of basketball administration, to vice president of basketball operations.
