Team USA captures the gold
at the 2012 London Olympic
We bid farewell to an Outstanding 2012 London Olympics and Team USA for men’s basketball said goodbye in grand fashion as they a faced Team Spain that was loaded with current NBA talent such as Pau Gasol and his brother Marc, Rudy Fernandez, Jose Calderon, Serge Ibaka and others as they were giving Team USA a run for their money and Spain was not only down by one point at half-time and at the end of the 3rd quarter as Marc Gasol sat the entire 3rd on the bench due to foul trouble.  But midway thru the 4th Kobe “Bean” Bryant and Chris Paul gave their a little breathing room and LeBron James put the icing on the cake as they pulled away and put away Spain 107-100 to capture back-to-back Olympic gold medals.  Kevin Durant finished with 30 points, LeBron James added 19 points to become only player not named Jordan to win a NBA title, regular season MVP, NBA Finals MVP and Olympic gold in the same year and Kobe ends his final Olympic run with 17 points and a two gold medals.
Jake Varner of the United States also capped off his Olympic run with a gold medal as he defeated Valerie Andriitsev of Ukraine 1-0, 1-0 in the men’s 96-kilogram freestyle.
The United States came out on top in T. M. C. otherwise known as Total Medal Count as they finished with 46 gold, 29 silver, and 29 bronze for a total count of 104, China finished with 38 gold, 27 silver, and 22 bronze comprising of 87 and Russia came in third with a total of 87 medals.
For your London Olympic News, with a little British pomp and a lot of British pop, London brought the curtain down on a glorious Olympic Games on Sunday in a spectacular, technicolor pageant of landmarks, lightshows and lots of fun, after stating Usain Bolt needed to prove his greatness over more than two Olympics, IOC president Jacques Rogge wants to set the record straight: Usain Bolt is an "active" legend and the best sprinter ever…duh!  The IOC has formally excluded Colombian runner Diego Palomeque from the London Olympics for doping, and told team officials to investigate his coach, the International Olympic Committee will temporarily withhold a bronze medal from a South Korean soccer player who displayed a political sign after a game against Japan, and finally, the U.S. Olympic Committee is soooooo disappointed by its medal-less men's boxing team that it will make changes to the sport's national governing body.
Major League Baseball was jammed pack with games as the American League had seven games on the diamond as the Boston Red Sox literally spanked the Cleveland Indians 14-1 as Jon Lester wiped out 12 batters, the New York Yankees was crowned by the Kansas City Royals 10-7 as Edwin Encarnacion belted his 30th homer, the Chicago White Sox crushed the Oakland A’s 7-3 despite 3 homers from Oakland, but Chris Sales helped the Sox with 11 K’s, while the Tampa Bay Rays needed 10 innings to blast the Minnesota Twins 7-3 with Jeff Keppinger’s tie-breaking grounder that lead to 4 run inning, the Detroit Tigers were outmuscled by the Texas Rangers 8-3 with Josh Hamilton’s 32nd homerun and the Seattle Mariners outlasted the LA Angels 4-1 as Jesus Montero crushed not 1, but 2 homers.
