Silas Redd Leaves PSU, NBA w/ Matt Barnes, AL-NL MLB Scores & NFL Quick Hits: 8/1, Vol. 198, 2nd Edition

After you've gone through the hurt, after you've gone through the pain, after you've gone through the storm, after you've gone through the rain…..you just stand!  Welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y.!

Silas Redd leaves Happy Valley
for greener pastures
in Southern California
Major League Baseball had a plethora of games on the diamond last night starting with the American League as the Tampa Bay Rays literally spanked and SHUT OUT the Oakland A’s 8-zilch as James Shields pitched a complete, 3 hit game while amassing 11 strikeouts, the Toronto Blue Jays were pummeled by the Seattle Mariners 7-2 as Dustin Ackley homered, the Baltimore Orioles manhandled the New York Yankees 11-5 as Chris Davis got his 18th homer of the season, while the Detroit Tigers was defeated by the Boston Red Sox 4-1 as the game was called at the top of the 6th inning due to rain, the LA Angels continued to chase down the Texas Rangers and went on to blast  the Rangers 6-2 as Albert Pujos went yard twice, the Cleveland Indians were tomahawked by the Kansas City Royals 8-3 with 3 RBI’s from Jarrod Dyson and the Chicago White Sox escape with a one run win against the Minnesota Twins 4-3 with help from A. J. Pierzynski’s 2 run homer.
And for your National League scores, the Miami Marlins were pounded by the Atlanta Braves 7-1 with Brian McCann’s 18th homer, the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals rocked the Colorado Rockies 11-6 as 3 Cardinals belted homeruns, the Arizona Diamondbacks crushed the LA Dodgers 8-2 as Paul Goldschmidt went yard, the New York Mets was hammered by the San Francisco Giants 4-1 as Tim Lincecum struck out 7 batters, while the Philadelphia Phillies outmuscled and SHUT OUT the Washington Nationals 8-0 as Jimmy Rollins gets an inside the park homerun, the San Diego Padres lost 7-6 to the Cincinnati Reds with 3 Reds going yard, the Pittsburgh Pirates SHUT OUT and devastated the Chicago Cubs 5-0 as A. J. Burnett pitched a complete one hit game and the Houston Astros were demolished by the Milwaukee Brewers 10-1 as Corey Hart launches his 20th homer of the season.
In sporting news, Silas Redd has traded his blue and white for cardinal and gold and has taken his talents to the Southern California. Redd, who was Penn State’s prolific running back has decided to transfer to USC after several days of meetings with head coach Lane Kiffin and star quarterback Matt Barkley.  Redd will have two seasons of eligibility remaining and will be able carry the rock this season since the NCAA allows any player from Happy Valley to transfer without recourse.  Of course, many would have applauded him if he stayed, but in my perspective, you really can’t blame him for leaving.
For your NBA Quick Dribbles, former Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes is out of jail after being arrested on suspicion of threatening a police officer who stopped him for a $26,000 traffic warrant for driving on a suspended driver’s license, Brandon Rush agreed to an $8 million, two-year deal Tuesday to stay with the Golden State Warrior after becoming the team's most reliable reserve last season, the Chicago Bulls signed guard Nate Robinson, the team announced on Tuesday, free agent forward Carl Landry is headed to the Golden State Warriors on a two year, $8 million dollar deal,  and finally, the Los Angeles Clippers acquired guard Willie Green from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for the draft rights to Sofoklis Schortsanitis.
For your NFL Quick Hits, the Seattle Seahawks have signed wide receiver Braylon Edwards,  New York Giants safety Tyler Sash has been suspended by the NFL without pay for the Giants' first four games for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances, the NFL has suspended Green Bay Packers linebacker Erik Walden for the regular-season opener for violating the league's personal conduct policy, and finally, Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley's court hearing on a marijuana possession charge in Alabama has been delayed until November 27.
