‘Cause I can see the breaking...I can see the breaking of day, God is making a way and a change is coming for me.  If I stand strong and believe, there's no reason to doubt as I know He's working it out and it's turning around for me!  Welcome back to your HBCU College Football Wrap Up for Week 5 on your Spiritual Sports Segment on a Sunday, alliteration, I love it, on CeeJaySports.com, where I give you your sports twisted spiritually….I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y., Let’s Make It Do What It Do!

Ohhhhh the SWAC Conference had a plethora of in conference games on the grid iron and even one MEAC/SWAC matchup however comma I digress as I kick off your scores starting with Alabama State literally spanked and demolished Alcorn State 54-14 as Isaisah Crowel had one his best games since joining the Hornets with 127 yards and a score, Prairie View was annihilated by Jackson State 34-13 as Tommy Gooden was for a score 135 ground pounding yards, Arkansas Pine-Bluff was literally smacked upside the head by Tennessee State 40-13 with 262 passing yards and 2 TD’s by Michael German, while Florida A&M and Southern  got their grid iron grove on in the ATL as Daniel Brown recovered a fumble with 7:33 minutes left in the game that ultimately sealed the deal and Dray Joseph threw for 2 TD’s and 226 yards and on a side note, the Jaguars had a very nice tribute to FAMU’s Marching 100 as they are currently suspended and in the ESPN highlight game, Grambling was totally outmuscled, totally out done and totally out played by Alabama A&M 38-17 as Deaunte Mason only threw the ball 18 times but had 247 yards and not one, not two but threw TD’s.

Popping HBCU marching band type of 90’s over to the MEAC Conference, as all games were all MEAC as Savannah State just can’t catch a break as they were whipped, walloped and wipe it off, alliteration, I told you I loved it however comma I digress once again by Howard 56-9- as Aquanius Freeman ran outside of his mind with 212 breaking tackles yards on only 13 carries and 2 TD’s, South Carolina State SHUT OUT and crushed Norfolk State 14-0 despite not one, not two but three INT’s by Richard Cue and the Mighty Wildcats of Bethune Cookman muscled past Hampton 38-26 as Cookman’s defense picked off Hampton’s QB’s 4 times.

Juuuuuust in case you missed, ESPN had their weekly HBCU on Thursday night as Morgan State muscled past North Carolina A&T 21-18 as Robert Council passed for 251 yards and 2 TD’s and rushed for 59 yards as well and the SWAC also had one team in action as Texas Southern was literally spanked and lambasted by Sam Houston State 50-6.  Ouch!  And for a couple few non SWAC/MEAC games, Winston-Salem steamrolled Bowie State 35-3, Livingstone sneaked past Virginia Union 23-21, Lincoln was defeated by Emporia State 37-26, while Fort Valley State ransacked Tuskegee 49-18, Elizabeth City got past St. Augustine 23-21 and Morehouse dominated Clark-Atlanta 34-16.

For your Week 5 standings the SWAC, Alabama A&M reigns supreme and undefeated in East, while Alabama State and Jackson State are 2nd and 3rd and in the West Division, Arkansas Pine-Bluff is 1st and Southern is 2nd and in the MEAC, Howard, Florida A&M and Bethune Cookman in that order, are all undefeated in conference play thus far.

NFL's Lockout of Ref's Is Over, NFL w/ Bill Belichick's Fine & AL MLB Scores: 9/27, Vol. 236, 1st Edt'n

When I always didn't do right, I went left, He told me to go right. But I'm standing right here in the midst of my tears, Lord I claim You to be the Lamb of God!  Good morning and welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema on Gospel Radio better than when you it yesterday! I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!  Let’s Get It Started!

The NFL & NFLRA are back
smiling again as the lockout
is finally over!
Breaking news last night in the weee hours of the morning on my Twitter page @ceejaysports because that’s how I get down to make sure my listeners are up to date on their sports however comma I digress as the National Football League and the referee’s union announced that the lockout that began in June has concluded with a tentative deal in place. As the ink on the agreement settles, the normal ref’s will be in action tonight as the Baltimore Ravens battle the Cleveland Browns and the eight year deal will need to be ratified by 51% of the union’s 121 members.  Here are highlights of the agreement between both sides:

•           The current defined benefit pension plan will remain in place for current officials through the 2016   season or until the official earns 20 years' service and after that, it will be frozen.
•           Retirement benefits will be provided for new hires, and for all officials beginning in 2017, through a defined contribution agreement.
•           The annual league contribution made on behalf of each game official will begin with an average of more than $18,000 per official and increase to more than $23,000 per official in 2019, and a partial match on any additional contribution that an official makes to his 401(k) account.
•           The game officials' compensation will increase from an average of $149,000 a year in 2011 to $173,000 in 2013, rising to $205,000 by 2019.
•           Beginning with the 2013 season, the NFL will have the option of hiring a number of officials on a full-time basis to work year-round, including on the field. The NFL will have the option to retain additional officials for training and development purposes, and may assign those additional officials to work NFL games.  All I have to say is Welcome Back!

Major League Baseball had a plethora of games yesterday starting with the American League swinging for the fences as the New York Yankees had the only afternoon game against the Minnesota Twins and they routed the Twins 8-2 as CC Sabathia fanned 10 batters, the Toronto Blue Jays was literally spanked by the Baltimore Orioles 12-2 as the O’s tie a club record with 7 homeruns as Chris Davis and Manny Machado each had 2 homers, the Kansas City Royals lost by a run 5-4 to the Detroit Tigers as Austin Jackson launched his 16th homer, the Tampa Bay Rays got past the Boston Red Sox 4-2 with the 19th homer from Carlos Pena, while the Oakland A’s powered past the Texas Rangers 9-3 as Derek Norris drives in 3 RBI’s and the A’s set an AL record with the most strikeouts in a season with 1,333 with seven more games to add to that record, the Cleveland Indians defeated the Chicago White Sox 6-4 to knock the Sox out of 1st place and the Seattle Mariners lost by one measly run to the LA Angels 4-3.

For your NFL Quick Hits, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has been fined $50,000 for "impermissible physical contact with an official" at the end of Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, former Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon, who is suffering from early-stage dementia, has told a Chicago television station that while he appreciates what football has done for him, if he could do it over, he would play baseball, the San Diego Chargers signed receiver Malcolm Floyd to a three-year contract extension Wednesday through 2015 however, financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Mundy was fined $21,000 for his hit on Oakland Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey last Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys have signed punter Brian Moorman, who was released by the Buffalo Bills this week, and finally, an attorney for Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley asked a judge Wednesday to approve a pretrial diversion program instead of putting the player on trial facing charges of drunken driving and fleeing police.

NFL's Half Handed Catch Ruling & AL MLB Scores: 9/26, Vol. 235, 1st Edition

Holy is the Lamb, the Precious Lamb of God, Why You love me so, Lord, I shall never know the Precious lamb of God!  Good morning and welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema on Gospel Radio better than when you it yesterday! I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!  Here We Go!

The NFL stands by Golden Tate's TD
as the Seahawks celebrate
Major League Baseball was back up to their usual fifteen games starting with the American League as the Cleveland Indians knock off the Chicago White Sox by one run 4-3 despite all 3 runs scored by the White Sox were homeruns, the Toronto Blue Jays SHUT OUT and clipped the wings of the Baltimore Orioles 4-0, the Kansas City Royals were SHUT OUT by the Detroit Tigers 2-0 as Anibal Sanchez strikes out 10 in a complete game SHUT OUT, the Tampa Bay Rays got past the Boston Red Sox 5-2 as David Price not only wins his 19th game but struck out a season high 13 batters, while the Oakland A’s needed 10 innings to notch the win against the Texas Rangers 3-2 as George Kottaras’ leadoff homer sealed the deal, the New York Yankees lost to the Minnesota Twins 5-4 despite the Bronx Bombers 4 homeruns and the Seattle Mariners were defeated by the LA Angels 5-4 with Torii Hunter’s 16th homer.

In sporting news, as the dust settles from the Monday Night Football Debacle, the National Football League stands by the decision of the referee who ruled that Golden Tate’s half handed catch was indeed a touchdown in the Seattle Seahawks win over the Green Bay Packers on Monday night. After the game, the league office received more than 70,000 voice mails from fans expressing their disdain over the call and yesterday, the NFL released a statement that read in part “Referee Wayne Elliott determined that no indisputable visual evidence existed to overturn the call on the field, and as a result, the on-field ruling of touchdown stood.”  Meanwhile, another fallout from the MNFD was a financial one as John Avello, director of the race and sports book at the Wynn in Las Vegas estimated there was more than a $150 million dollar shift when the Seahawks won the game and some estimate the shift to be closer to the $250 million dollar range. Wow!

Monday Night Football Debacle w/ The Packers & Seahawks & AL MLB Scores: 9/25, Vol. 234, 1st Edt'n

Now behold the Lamb, the Precious Lamb of God…..born into sin that I may live again

Replacement refs are NOT on
same page in the Green Bay Packers
vs the Seattle Seahawks
Monday Night Football provided probably the most memorable, controversy filled game in its 43 year history when the Green Bay Packers were seeking their first road win of the season when they traveled to face off against the Seattle Seahawks, but since Aaron Rogers of the Packers was sacked 8 times in the 1st half, it would be an uphill battle to get that win.  With that, the Seahawks went to the locker room with a 7-0 halftime lead and in the 3rd quarter, the Packers offense still sputtered as they managed 2 field goals to close the gap to 7-6 going into the 4th quarter.  And in the 4th quarter, things get a little interesting as Russell Wilson of the Seahawks rolled out on 4th and 10, no time outs and the clock ticking towards zero, threw in essence a hail Mary to the end-zone and Golden Tate of the Seahawks and M. D. Jennings of the Packers simultaneously caught the ball as both players crashed landed in the end-zone.  With no time on clock and two replacement refs standing basically of either end of both players as each one tried to wrestle the ball from one another, the refs looked at each other and one ref indicated a catch for the defense and the other indicated touchdown.  Only after reviewing the play, it was announced the ruling on the field stands, and the Packers have to searched for their helmets to trout back onto the field and line up as mannequins for the extra point, as the Seahawks won the game 14-12.  Coming off a weekend in which the replacement refs were heavily criticized, last night’s will be the pinnacle of that criticism since it decided a game and it was the first time in 664 Monday Night Football games in which a game winning touchdown scored in the 4th quarter as time expired.

Curtis Granderson knocks out
his 40th homer of the season
The American League in Major League baseball were swinging their bats as the Baltimore Orioles knocked off the Toronto Blue Jays 4-1 in game one of the a double header as Adam Jones launched his 31st homer and in the 2nd game, the Blue Jays reversed the outcome by dominating the Orioles 9-5 as Edwin Encarnacion belts his 41st homer, the Kansas City Royals were devastated by the Detroit Tigers 6-2 with the 28th homerun from Prince Fielder, while Oakland A’s lost by a run to the Texas Rangers 5-4 as Adrian Beltre went yard for the 35th time, but it was his single in the 9th inning that won the game, another 5-4 score occurred in the Cleveland Indians versus the Chicago White Sox game, with the White Sox getting the win as Adam Dunn homered twice and the New York Yankees smothered the Minnesota Twins 6-3 with a total of 4 homers including the 40th homerun by Curtis Granderson.
