College Football, Deutsche Bank Championship, US Open & AL MLB Scores/Results: 9/4, Vol. 221, 1st Edition

The ACC had to two of their teams battling last night as Georgia Tech was trying to open their season with a win, but 16th ranked Virginia Tech had other plans as they used a passing game that notched 230 yards to open their season with a win 20-17.
Louis Oosthuizen gave his best effort but it wasn’t good enough at the Deutsche Bank Championship as he came up one shot back of the Rory McIlroy who the event with a 19 under par to claim is share of the $8,000,000 purse of $1,440,000 and Tiger Woods finished 3rd and with his prize money of $544,000, Woods became the first $100 million man on the PGA Tour.
The quarterfinals for the women at the 2012 US Open concluded yesterday as 4th seeded Serena Williams showed no mercy and simply demolished and SHUT OUT Andrea Hlavackova in straight sets 6-0, 6-0, 10th seeded Sara Errani powered past 6th seeded Angelique Kerber 7-6, 6-3, while 20th seeded Roberta Vinci UPSET 2nd seeded Agnieszka Radwanska 6-1, 6-4 and 12th seeded Ana Ivanovic got the win in straight sets over Tsvetana Pironkova 6-0, 6-4.
Major League Baseball had a plethora of games laboring on Labor Day with the American League’s seven games as the Cleveland Indians knocked off the Detroit Tigers 3-2, the Baltimore Orioles SHUT OUT the Toronto Blue Jays 4-0, the New York Yankees lost by a run 4-3 to the Tampa Bay Rays with the 17th homer from B. J. Upton, the Texas Rangers clobbered the Kansas City Royals 8-4 as 5 Rangers went yard, while the LA Angels dominated the Oakland A’s 8-3 as Torii Hunter’s 13th homer help end  the A’s 9 game win streak, the Seattle Mariners beat up on the Boston Red Sox 4-1  to give the Sox their 7th consecutive loss and the Minnesota Twins lost to the Chicago White Sox 4-2 as Gordon Beckham launched a 2 run homer to help seal the deal.
