NFL w/ Ethics/Diversity Grade, Olympic News, AL MLB, WNBA & LPGA- Scores: 9/14, Vol. 229, 2nd Edition

Keep trusting, keep trying, keep travailing….it’s not over……..keep living, keep giving, keep going……it’s not over, until your victory is won!  Welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel Radio, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y.!

Nneka  Ogwumike can't
be denied with her career best
30 points vs Chicago Sky
In an unusual scheduling twist, the American League in Major League had more waaay more games than their National League brother as 14 innings were needed for the Baltimore Orioles to get past the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 as Manny Machado’s single sealed the deal as the Orioles claim their 1st non-losing season since 1997, where was I in ’97?  Ohhhhh yeah, however comma I digress since this a gospel based sports show….huh?!  The Oakland A’s were SHUT OUT and demolished by the LA Angels 6-0 as Jared Weaver pitched 7 strong innings and struck out 9 weak batters, the Seattle Mariners were trounced by the Toronto Blue Jays 8-3 as Dustin Ackley homered, the New York Yankees SHUT OUT the Boston Red Sox 2-0 as Derek Jeter tied baseball great Willie Mays for 10th place on the career hits list with 3,283, while the Cleveland Indians eked out the one run win 5-4 against the Texas Rangers with 14th homerun from Jason Kipnis, the Kansas City Royals lost by one measly run 4-3 to the Minnesota Twins as Denard Span had the game-ending RBI double and the Detroit Tigers and the Chicago White Sox game was postponed due to rain.
There was only one game on the hard court for the lovely ladies in the WNBA as the LA Sparks knocked off the Chicago Sky 86-77 as Nneka Ogwumike had the nets singing hallelujah with a career best 30 points and added 11 rebounds for good measure.
The lovely ladies on the golf course kicked off the Ricoh Women’s British Open yesterday at Royal Liverpool Golf Course as Haeji Kang and So Yeon Ryu are tied atop of the leaderboard with a -2 under par and there are a host of players tied for 3rd.
For your Olympic Sporting News, Olympic champion McKayla Maroney had two screws inserted Thursday to repair a fracture in her left tibia, which occurred Sunday when she fell on her uneven bars dismount during the second stop of a 40-city gymnastics tour, The World Anti-Doping Agency would consider an amnesty for riders who confess to drug offenses even though the proposal by cycling's ruling body would take the sports world into "uncharted territory”, Switzerland's Olympic committee says two of its athletes Roger Nachbur, a 30-year-old road cyclist, and 41-year-old speed skier Reto Eigenmann, have received two-year bans for "possession and attempted use" of doping products bought online and finally, police are trying to find the person who burglarized Cheryl Leitner's Toms River home while she was in London competing in the Paralympics…just plain sad.
For your NFL Quick Hits, despite sitting out Wednesday's practice with a foot injury, Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson is expected to play Sunday night against the San Francisco 49ers, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, running back Ryan Mathews has been cleared for contact but was limited in practice as the San Diego Chargers continued preparing for their home opener Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers four-time Pro Bowl linebacker James Harrison will play in the team's home opener against the New York Jets on Sunday, according to a report, Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield missed practice on Thursday to attend his brother's funeral, and finally, the annual report by The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport on Thursday gave the league its third consecutive A grade on racial hiring and its first C-plus for gender hiring.
