were running the bases last night as the Washington Nationals were crushed
by the Philadelphia Phillies 6-3 as Carlos Ruiz launched his 16th homer
to the Phillies continue their hopes of making the playoffs, the Miami Marlins
lost by a run to the Atlanta Braves 4-3 as Freddie Freeman belts his 22nd
homer in a walk off fashion as the Braves clinch a playoff bid, the Milwaukee
Brewers was defeated by the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 as Johnny Cuerto wins his 19th
game, the Pittsburgh Pirates demolished the New York Mets 10-6 with the 25th
homer from Garrett Jones followed by the 30th homer from Pedro
Alvarez, the defending champs St. Louis Cardinals SHUT OUT and
blasted
the Houston Astros 4-0 as the Cards get a little closer in making the playoffs
to defend their title, while the Chicago Cubs were hammered 10-5 in only 7 innings
by the Colorado Rockies as the game as called due to rain, but not before Willin
Rosario knocks
out his 27th homer, the LA Dodgers lost by one measly
run 2-1 to the San Diego Padres and the Arizona Diamondbacks chopped down the San
Francisco Giants 7-2 with the 19th homer from Paul Goldschmidt.

Hits, Denver Broncos linebacker Joe Mays has been suspended for one game and
fined $50,000 by the NFL for his hit on Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub
over the weekend, but Mays will appeal the suspension, the Washington Redskins
plan to add Ryan Grant to their busted up backfield as an announcement is
expected today, Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan was
fined $25,000 for an unsportsmanlike penalty in Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati

by Shawn Powell.
