Peyton Manning presented
with the game ball in his 1st
game as a Bronco
I kick off your 2nd segment with Round 2 of NFL scores as the Chicago Bears was the 4th team of the day to put up 40 points with a 41-21 drubbing of the Indianapolis Colts with 333 passing yards and 2 scores from Jay Cutler and on a side note, Andrew Luck had a decent showing in his NFL debut with 309 passing yards, 1 TD and but had 3 INT’s, the Philadelphia Eagles escaped from Cleveland with a 17-16 win against the Browns despite 4 interceptions from Michael Vick, but he also had 317 passing yards and 2 TD’s, the Carolina Panthers couldn’t contain the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they lost 16-10 with 138 yards passed from Josh Freeman to go along with a one touchdown, while the Seattle Seahawks debut of Russell Wilson was spoiled by the Arizona Cardinals as they notched the win 20-16 as Kevin Kolb stepped in for the injured John Skelton and lead the Cardinals to the win, the San Francisco 49er’s got the best of the Green Bay Packers 30-22 as Frank Gore rushed for 112 yards and a TD and in the Sunday Night Special, the debut of Peyton Manning with the Denver Broncos went exactly as John Elway planned, sort of, as the Broncos used the Manning’s surgical precision of the pigskin to power past the Pittsburgh Steelers as Manning tossed for 253 yards, 2 TD’s and the 2nd TD catapulted Manning into the 400 Touchdown Club.
Clint Bowyer captures the
checkered flag at Richmond
NASCAR’s regular season came to end yesterday at Richmond International Speedway as drivers were battling to earn the final spots to the 12 driver field playoffs as Clint Bowyer won the event, but it was the 2nd place Jeff Gordon filled with joy as he made the playoffs, Mark Martin came in 3rd, while Tony Stewart placed 4th and Matt Kenseth round out the top 5 finishers.
The final tally for the Sprint Cup Standings include Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Brad Keselowski, Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex, Jr., Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon round out the 12 drivers who made the playoffs.
The National League had their bats swinging in Major League Baseball as the Arizona Diamondbacks was blasted by the San Diego Padres 8-2 with Chase Headley’s 27th homer, in the first game of the afternoon between the Colorado Rockies and Philadelphia Phillies, the Phillies got the 3-2 win and in the 2nd game of the day, the result was same as the Phillies won, but this time with a score of 7-4 against the Rockies, the Philadelphia Phillies, the LA Dodgers were SHUT OUT by the San Francisco Giants 4-0 , somebody STOP THE BUS ‘cause the Houston Astros pounced on the Cincinnati Reds 5-1, 10 innings were needed for the Atlanta Braves to get the one run win 3-2 over the New York Mets, while the Miami Marlins SHUT OUT and literally spanked the Washington Nationals 8-0 as Ricky Nolasco tossed a 4 hit SHUT OUT, the Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 as Alfonso Soriano belts his 28th homer and another 10 innings were needed between the Milwaukee Brewers and the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals, but the Cards avoid the sweep 5-4.
