Justin Verlander of the Tigers had the Yankees under his control |
Major League Baseball had one game running the
bases last night as the American League Championship Series is just one game
shy of putting it in the books as the Detroit Tigers’ Justin Verlander pitched
just above 8 innings to get the win as the Tigers get past the slumping New
York Yankees 2-1 with help of a homerun from Delmon Young as the Tigers take a commanding
3-0 series lead.
In
sporting news, the National Hockey League resumed lockout talks with NHL
Players’ Association and in a surprising move, the league offered a 50-50
revenue split to the union and with a full 82 game season starting November
2. The union indicated that the offer is
not short and they are in process sifting through it to completely and fully
understand it and the key issue is how the 50-50 split, which is down from the
previous 57%, will affect the their current signed contracts. So, it appears that perhaps by the end of
this week, a deal should be in place and skating on the frozen pond should be
upon us.

surgically repaired left knee is progressing ahead of schedule and plans to
play in his third consecutive preseason game Thursday against the Detroit
Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers guards Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups went

into Wednesday night's preseason game against the Utah Jazz in Los Angeles, the

announced Tuesday and finally, King County Executive Dow Constantine and
Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn signed legislation Tuesday on the funding plan for
