Alabama now ranked 1st in the initial BCS Rankings |
Now
that we are basically half way through the college football season, the BCS
Rankings were released going into Week 8 and per usual, there was some
shuffling to take place as Alabama rightly maintains the #1 position, Florida
is ranked 2nd, Oregon is 3rd, Kansas State is 4th,
Norte Dame is 5th, while LSU is 6th, South Carolina would
have ranked higher, but with their loss to LSU, the Gamecocks start off the BCS
Ranking at #7, Oregon State is 8th, Oklahoma is starts off ranked 9th
after they put a whipping
on Texas and USC, who at the beginning of the season was expected to contend
for a national championship is ranked 10th.

For
your Olympic Sporting News, “Saturday Night Live" performed a parody of the
vice presidential debate with an assist from the world's fastest man, as Usain
Bolt dropped by the NBC sketch show's mock debate after Taran Killam, playing
Mitt Romney's running mate, Paul Ryan, claimed he won the 100-meter race at the
London Olympics, since Ryan has been criticized for exaggerating his marathon
time and Olympic champion McKayla Maroney says her right foot will be in a boot
for another four to five weeks, and she'll need the stabilizer on her left leg
for a few more weeks after that.

Labor
negotiations between the NHL and the locked-out players' association may resume
Tuesday after a four-day break, , New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi strongly
advocated for the implementation of expanded instant replay after he was
ejected for arguing a blown call by second base umpire Jeff Nelson in the
eighth inning of his team's 3-0 loss to the Detroit Tigers in Game 2 of the
American League Championship Series on Sunday afternoon, San Francisco Giants
first-base coach Roberto Kelly will miss at least the first two games of the NL
Championship Series with a concussion after being hit in the back of the head
by a foul ball in batting practice, and finally, New York Yankees shortstop
Derek Jeter "likely" will undergo surgery on his broken left ankle,
according to a league source….soooo, what’s the alternative…..huh!?
