I
should've been dead, and never kept alive, but God's grace and his mercy were
on every side. When it looks like I can't, God says I can and he won't let me
fall in the enemy's hand! Welcome back
to your HBCU College Football Wrap Up for Week 8 on your Spiritual Sports
Segment on a Sunday, alliteration, I love it, on CeeJaySports.com, where I give
you your sports twisted spiritually….I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y., Let’s Make It Do What It
Do!
The MEAC Conference had
it going on yesterday with five games on the Grid Iron as Morgan State and Howard played a tight game as the Bison’s
running game proved to be the difference in the one point 21-20 win over the
Bears as Terrence LeFall rushed the rock for
134 yards and a score to celebrate their homecoming, Delaware State SHUT OUT and literally smacked North
Carolina A&T upside
the head 24 – ZERO, 24 – ZILCH, 24 – 0 ZIPPO
for their homecoming game as the passing game for the Hornets was in
full effect as Nick Elko passed for 245 yards and a TD, while his favorite
receiver Travis Tarpley caught the rock for 128 yards and a score, while South
Carolina State got the overtime win 27-20 against Florida A&M with 144 ground pounding
yards from Jalen Simmons and a score and the Mighty Wildcats of Bethune Cookman
literally
spanked Norfolk State 48-3 as
Quentin Williams had 157 passing yards and 2 TD’s.
Popping halftime HBCU
90’s over to the SWAC Conference and their four games as Prairie View was like
Dottie Peoples as they Showed Up and the Show Out for their homecoming with 52 points as they blasted
Alcorn State with their 37 points with 251 passing yards from De’Auntre Smiley
and count ‘em uno,
dos, tres, quarto TD’s, just a little love all the Spanish speaking
brothers and sisters out there, Arkansas Pine Bluff wanted to join the over 50 party as they stumped, step on
and stymied, alliteration, I Love It, Southern 51-20 as Benjamin
Anderson passed for 296 scorching yards and a score, but also ran for
75 yards and a score, while Ladarius Eckwood only caught the ball 3 times, but
for 131 burning
the trails yards and a score and
it was a double overtime homecoming thriller as Jackson State escaped with a 14-7
win over Mississippi with 131 passing yards from Clayton Moore and a score and
60 rushing yards as well with a score.
And for a couple few non MEAC/SWAC homecoming games,
Elizabeth City State outmuscled Chowan 47-21 for the homecoming
win, Winston Salem SHUT OUT and demolished Livingstone
58-0…ouch, and Tuskegee also SHUT OUT and manhandled Kentucky State 37-0 to celebrate
their homecoming.
