| Anthony Davis was a beast in the paint collecting 17 boards |
As
the National Basketball Association sets to kick off their season within a
week, I’m going to stray from my usual stance of not providing pre-season
scores of any sport and run down your NBA pre-season scores from last night as
I get into practice with NBA scores and since it is a slow news cycle however comma I
digress as the Toronto Raptors
knock off the Milwaukee Bucks 104-95 with 21 points from DeMar DeRozan, Carmelo
Anthony returned to his old stomping grounds
at Syracuse’s Carrier Dome but his New York Knicks was defeated by the
Philadelphia 76er’s 98-90 as Jason Richardson tied a game high with 23 points,
the New Orleans Hornets were crushed by the Dallas Mavericks as the Mavs
win was overshadowed by rookie and top pick Anthony Davis’ 17 rebounds, the
Phoenix Suns blasted the Sacramento Kings 103-88 with 25 points from Jared
Dudley, while the Utah Jazz was outlasted by the Portland Trailblazers 120-114
with Nicolas Batum’s 27 points and the Golden State Warriors were demolished
by the LA Clippers 88-71 with a double-double from DeAndre Jordan’s 18 points
and 12 boards.
For
your NBA Quick Dribbles, Dwight Howard was recognized as the best defender in
the league as well as the best interior defender when NBA.com announced the
results of its annual survey of the league's 30 general managers on Monday, but
Howard still wants to know why he isn't the reigning Defensive Player of the
Year, since he was unable to secure a guaranteed contract in the NBA, Gilbert
Arenas is on his way to join Tracy McGrady as sources on Monday confirmed a
Yahoo! Sports report that Arenas is on the verge of signing a one-year deal
with the Guangdong Southern Tigers, the NBA's general managers have picked the
Miami Heat to repeat as champions and LeBron James to win his fourth Most
Valuable Player Award, according to NBA.com's annual survey of the league's
front offices that was released on Monday, the sale of the Memphis Grizzlies to
an ownership group headed by Northern California tech magnate Robert Pera is
poised for approval by vote of the NBA's Board of Governors on Thursday, Los
Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant sat out of practice Monday with a strained
right foot, and finally, Jeff Van Gundy, the lead game analyst for ESPN's and
ABC's coverage of the NBA, implies that his brother Stan's deal to join the
network did not work out because the league blocked the move, but ESPN and the
NBA deny any such action….of course.
