The Houston Texans have the
best record in the AFC
I ran down the midway standings of the NFL for the NFC in the 1st segment and here are your standings for the American Football Conference as the New England Patriots lead the AFC East with the Miami Dolphins 2nd, the Baltimore Ravens lead the AFC North with rival Pittsburgh Steelers trailing, the AFC South is headed up by the Houston Texans as the Indianapolis Colts are 2nd and the Denver Broncos are the only team above the .500 mark in the AFC West.

For your NBA Quick Dribbles, Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey officially introduced James Harden on Monday, calling him a "foundational" player for the team's ultimate goal of returning to title contention, New York Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire will miss at least the first six weeks of the season after re-injuring his surgically repaired left knee, LA Lakers Kobe Bryant will be a game-time decision tonight when the Lakers host the Dallas Mavericks, speaking of the Mavericks, they waived suspended guard Delonte West on Monday to trim their roster to the mandated 15-player limit, in addition, a strained right calf will sideline Mavericks center Chris Kaman for tonight night’s season opener, meaning Eddy Curry likely will start against Dwight Howard and the aforementioned Lakers, and finally, the Portland Trail Blazers have appointed AEG Sports executive Chris McGowan as the team's new president and chief operating officer.
