Of the last 15 games of
the regular season in Major League Baseball, the National League had eight of
those games as the Houston Astros lost by one measly run to the Chicago Cubs
5-4 with a game winning single from Bryan LaHair and of course, the Astros set
a franchise record for loses at 107, they may need a psychiatrist in the
morning, the New York Mets got past the Miami Marlins 4-2 as Ike Davis belted
his 32nd homer, the Colorado Rockies defeated the Arizona
Diamondbacks 2-1 as Jeff Francis wins his 1st game since July 27th,
the San Francisco Giants were hammered by the LA Dodgers 5-1 as Clayton Kershaw
finished with a major league leading 2.53 ERA, the San Diego Padres eked out
the one run win against the Milwaukee Brewers 7-6 as Chase Hedley finishes the
season with a league leading 115 RBI’s, while the Cincinnati Reds were SHUT OUT
by the defending champs St. Louis Cardinals 1-0 with 7 K’s from Shelby Miller,
the Atlanta Braves SHUT OUT and blasted the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-0, and the
Philadelphia Phillies were crushed by the Washington Nationals 5-1 with the 25th
homer from Ryan Zimmerman as the Nationals clinched home field advantage for
the NL.
Speaking of the National
League will have their one Wild Card game between the St. Louis Cardinals and
the Atlanta Braves on Friday to determine who moves on in the Hunt.
Major League Soccer was
back in action last night as the Chicago Fire lost to the Philadelphia Union
3-1 and the Vancouver Whitecaps SHUT OUT and pounded Chivas USA 4-0.
