In sporting news, after reviewing 20 schools from the 120 in major conferences, the Black Coaches and Administrators handed out an A to 9 of those schools in their inaugural hiring report.  The hiring process was based upon four categories:
•           communication with the BCA
•           number of minorities on the search committee (as a ratio of the total group)
•           number of minorities interviewed (as a ratio of the total group)
•           how long the search process lasted

For your NBA Quick Dribbles, Mike D'Antoni might have been moving around a little slowly on crutches during his first practice as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, but he vowed to get his new team playing at a championship level fast, decimated by injuries to several key players, the Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with free-agent forward Josh Howard, pending a physical, in the ongoing saga with Royce White, the Houston Rockets intend to fine the rookie for every day he remains away from the team or does not attend sessions with a therapist arranged by the team, according to a report by the Houston Chronicle and finally, New York Knicks shooting guard J.R. Smith is off to one of the best starts of his nine-year NBA career and on Thursday he cited a cutback in nightlife as one of the key reasons for his success….see what a good night’s rest do for ya…..huh?!
