Fresh off his new deal with the Boston Red Sox, slugger David Ortiz fired back at former manager Bobby Valentine, basically said never bite the hand that feeds you, Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera beat out Pittsburgh center fielder Andrew McCutchen and Los Angeles Angels rookie Mike Trout for player of the year as voted on by their fellow players in the major leagues, Oliver Perez is staying with the Seattle Mariners after agreeing with the club on a one year, $1.5 million dollar contract, Melky Cabrera, who was suspended 50 games and left off the San Francisco Giants postseason roster, will still receive a full playoff share per union rules since the team played 10 games past when a penalized player may return, the St. Louis Cardinals have promoted John Mabry to hitting coach as the replacement for Mark McGwire, who told St. Louis he won't return after three seasons and appears headed to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and finally, the Houston Astros have hired Eduardo Perez as bench coach and Dennis Martinez as bullpen coach to complete the staff of new manager Bo Porter…..well, they need to add better players in order to have better results than last season……huh?!
