              Darrel Royal passes away at
               the age of 88
The Wishbone Offense will be laid to rest as the creator of the offense, Darrell Royal, longtime football coach at the University of Texas, passed away at the age of 88.  Royal, who is Texas’ all-time winningest coach at 167-47-5, won two national championships, 11 Southwest Conference titles and 10 Cotton Bowls and with 23 year invested at Texas, he never had a losing season.  In 1983, Royal was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and 1996 the football stadium was renamed after him titled the Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium.  May God rest his soul in peace.
