QB Brendon Fales and his
Bearcats outlast the Blue Devils in
              The Belk Bowl

College Football Bowl Season is off and running as three bowl games played out on the Grid Iron last night starting with the Military Bowl Presented by Northrop Grumman as Bowling Green of the MAC was defeated by 24th ranked San Jose State of the WAC 29-20 as David Fales had a blistering 395 passing yards and 2 TD’s, The Belk Bowl featured Cincinnati up against Duke and the Bearcats used an 83 yard TD pass to shock the Blue Devils 48-34 as Brendon Kay had 332 passing yards and count ‘em uno, dos, tres, quarto, I’m bi-lingual TD’s and the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl witnessed Baylor  literally spanking 17th ranked UCLA 49-26 as Glasco Martin had only 98 receiving yards but had not one, not two, but three TD’s.

Kevin Durant & Russell Westbrook
powered past the Mavs in OT
After a night jammed packed with games, the National Basketball Association only had two games that prominently displayed on TNT as  Darren Collison of the Dallas Mavericks used a heave-hoe last second, buzzing beating, game tying, send to overtime shot against the OKC Thunder, but after struggling the entire game, OKC Russell Westbrook scored 8 of his 16 points in OT and Kevin Durant earned his paycheck by making the nets holla fo’ they dolla’ with 40 points as the Thunder knock off the Mavericks 111-105 and the Boston Celtics was totally outplayed, totally outperformed and totally outmuscled, Alliteration, I Love It, by the Lob City Clippers 106-77…ouch, as Matt Barnes, what, yes Matt Barnes led all scorers with 21 points and Chris Paul handed out 11 assists.

Avery Johnson FIRED by the
Brooklyn Nets after a 14-14 start
For your NBA Quick Dribbles, in news that broke yesterday afternoon, the Brooklyn Nets, who are in their first year of their $1 billion, yes, billion with a B building and spent $330 million in the offseason to upgrade their offense, they have fired head coach Avery Johnson after a 14-14 start and Johnson was in his 3rd and final year of a $12 million contract,  Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard was fined $35,000 by the NBA on Thursday for a flagrant foul against Denver's Kenneth Faried, Miami Heat guard Dwayne Wade has been suspended one game without pay by the NBA for flailing his leg and making contact with the groin of the Charlotte Bobcats' Ramon Sessions, New York Knicks point guard Raymond Felton said Wednesday night that he expects to miss four to six weeks with a fractured finger, but he stressed the injury won't end his season, the Toronto Raptors say rookie Jonas Valanciunas is expected to be out four to six weeks while he recovers from a broken ring finger on his right hand and finally, second-year forward Jordan Hamilton of the Denver Nuggets was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Wednesday because of a vulgar exchange with a fan during the team's 112-100 Christmas Day loss to the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center.
