NBA & Men's College Basketball Scores & Paul Tagliabue Overturns Bounty Suspensions: 12/12, Vol. 287, 1st Edition

Who is the man who said He could save and who took my dark clouds away?  Jesus! Who said that they would bring joy to my day and wash all my sins away?  Jesus! Now who touched my heart and changed my life and who is this One that sacrificed?  Jesus!  Well, who heard my prayers in the middle of the night and when I was blind who opened my eyes?  Nobody but Jesus!  Good morning and welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema on Gospel Radio better than when you heard the last time you heard it…..I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!  Let’s Get It Started!

Carmelo Anthony owns the
               Nets so far this season
The National Basketball Association had five games to hit the hard-court last night as featuring two of those that was televised nationally as the Battle of the Big Apple continues with the New York Knicks battling the Brooklyn Nets on their home court as the Knicks were down 17 at one point but Carmelo Anthony wasn’t going out like that as he put up 45 points to lead the Knicks over the Nets 100-97 as Jason Kidd hit the eventual game winning trey in the first game, the LA Lakers witnessed Kobe Bryant pouring in 42 points and Dwight Howard grabbing 20 rebounds in a loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers 100-94 as Kyrie Irving returned to the lineup with a double-double of 28 points and 11 dimes, the Denver Nuggets defeated  the Detroit Pistons 101-94 with Ty Lawson’s 26 points, while the Washington Wizards got their 3rd win of the season by defeating the New Orleans Hornets 77-70 as Jordan Crawford poured in 26 points and the 2nd nationally televised game pitted the Lob City Clippers against the Chicago Bulls and the games was pretty much tight all the way to the conclusion as the Clippers held off the Bulls 94-89 with 22 points from Blake Griffin.

Trey Burke had a field day
             against Binghamton
Men’s College Basketball had three ranked games that tipped off last night as Binghamton was smothered, smashed and suffocated, alliteration, I Love It, by  3rd ranked Michigan 67-39 as Trey Burke had 19 points to give the Wolverines their best start since the ’88-89 season, 10th ranked Illinois held off the spunky Spartans of Norfolk State 64-54 as the Illini won the game at the free throw line and 13th ranked Minnesota blasted North Dakota State 70-57 as Rodney Williams chipped in 19 points, while the SWAC had  two games as Grambling State was annihilated by Auburn 92-42 and Jackson State was totally embarrassed by Saint Mary’s 120-67.

Paul Tagliabue overturns Roger
                Goodell's suspensions of Bounty Players
In sporting news, in what many thought was a moot point by current NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell appointing former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue to handle the appeals process of the current and former New Orleans Saints players in the Bounty Scandal, no one could have ever imagined that Tagliabue would overturn the suspensions.  Well, he did.  He acknowledge the players participated in a performance scheme that rewarded players for bone crushing hits, but laid sole responsibility on the coaches and other personnel in the Saints organization and stated "coaches and managers led a deliberate, unprecedented and effective effort to obstruct the NFL's investigation."  Jonathan Vilma, a current Saint player, still plans to pursue his defamation lawsuit against Goodell.
