There were twelve games on the diamond last night in Major League Baseball as the Tampa Bay Rays were crushed by the Detroit Tigers 5-2 as the Tiger remain undefeated, the Pittsburgh Pirates came up short against the LA Dodgers 2-1 as Andre Ethier launched a homerun, the New York Yankees need 12 innings to get past the Baltimore Orioles 5-4, the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals knocked off the Cincinnati Reds 3-1 as Carlos Beltran and David Freese both launched homeruns, the Chicago White Sox game against the Cleveland Indians was postponed due to the weather, the Washington Nationals put up a touchdown against the New York Mets and won 6-2 as the Mets lose their first game, while the Boston Red Sox were blasted by the Toronto Blue Jays 7-3, the Milwaukee Brewers clobbered the Chicago Cubs 7-4 as Alex Gonzalez helped out with a homerun, the Seattle Mariners were SHUT OUT by the Texas Rangers 1-0 as Neftali Feliz pitched seven scoreless innings in his first career start, the Atlanta Braves ran past the Houston Astros 6-4 as Chipper Jones returned to the lineup with a homerun, the Kansas City Royals SHUT OUT the Oakland A’s 3-0 as Mitch Maier launched a homerun, and the Arizona Diamondbacks needed 11 innings to get past the San Diego Padres 4-2 as Chris Young launched a homerun in the 11th inning to help secure the win.

In sporting news, Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen held a press conference in Little Havana yesterday morning to address the media concerning his insensitive comments about his admiration of Fidel Castro.  Several minutes prior to his press conference as announced on my Twitter page @ceejaysports, the Marlins brass suspended Ozzie for five game in hopes quailing the boiling temperatures in the area.  The majority of Guillen’s conference was held in his native tongue of Spanish in which he stated as translated to English “I feel like I betrayed my Latin community," Guillen said, according to ESPN's translation of his comments in Spanish. "I am here to say I am sorry with my heart in my hands and I want to say I'm sorry to all those people who are hurt indirectly or directly.”  As the press conference took place, more than one hundred protestors demonstrated outside Marlins park calling for Guillen to be fired and many have stated they will boycott the Marlins.  While some thought Guillen was contrite in his apology, only time will tell if he will be en masse.

For a rare second segment quick news and notes, The Edmonton Oilers, who finished with the second fewest points in the NHL, won the draft lottery on Tuesday night and claimed the #1 pick for the third consecutive year, The New York Rangers have agreed to terms with top prospect Chris Kreider on a three-year entry-level deal, Colorado’s third leading receiver Paul Richardson suffered a torn knee ligament Monday and will miss the 2012 season and finally, Michigan safety Josh Furman has been suspended from the football team and is due in court April 23 to face one misdemeanor count each of domestic violence, assault and battery and illegal entry.

I would like to wish one of my best friend's and my brother from another mother, Andy Swart in Orlando, FL a very happy birthday!

News for Bobby Petrino, NBA scores & current NBA Playoff Berths: 4/11, Vol. 118, 1st Edition

I can see that it's hurting you, I can feel your pain, it's hard to see the sunshine, through the rain, oh I know sometimes it seems as if, it's never gonna end, but you'll get through it, just don't give in because you can count on the Lord! Good morning and welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel Radio better than when you heard it yesterday, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!  Here We Go!!
In breaking news late yesterday evening, Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long fired head coach of the football program Bobby Petrino after discovering more information that followed Petrino’s motorcycle accident with Jessica Dorrell, a university employee.  Initially, Petrino told Long that he was alone during the accident, which later was found to be untrue and Long place Petrino on a leave absence.  Several days later, Long discovered, Petrino, who is married with four children, did in fact an improper relationship with Dorrell, whom Petrino hired and also gave Dorrell a gift of $20k dollars and Long stated  “he made the decision, a conscious decision, to mislead the public on Tuesday, and in doing so negatively and adversely affected the reputation of the University of Arkansas and our football program and in short, coach Petrino engaged in a pattern of misleading and manipulative behavior designed to deceive me and members of the athletic staff, both before and after the motorcycle accident.” Since Petrino was fired with cause, he will not receive the $18 million dollar buyout his contract called for.  Pertrino released this statement “the simplest response I have is: I'm sorry. These two words seem very inadequate. But that is my heart…. all I have been able to think about is the number of people I've let down by making selfish decisions. I've taken a lot of criticism in the past. Some deserved, some not deserved. This time, I have no one to blame but myself. I chose to engage in an improper relationship. I also made several poor decisions following the end of that relationship and in the aftermath of the accident. I accept full responsibility for what has happened.”  Long stated the search for a new head coach begins immediately.

Now onto the National Basketball Association, as they had a lighter schedule last night, but with two key nationally televised games as two Eastern Conference power houses battled in the first televised game as the Boston Celtics got the best of the Miami Heat 115-107 as the Celtics proved they are still a force to be reckon with as Paul Pierce netted 27 points, the Charlotte Bobcats continued their quest to land the number one pick in the draft as they lost for the 49th time this season, this time to the Cleveland Cavaliers 103-90 with 25 points from Lester Hudson, the Orlando Magic still didn’t Dwight Howard, but this time they needed him as they lost to the Washington Wizards 93-85 as Kevin Seraphin had a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while the Philadelphia 76er’s literally spanked the New Jersey Nets 107-88 as Lou Williams scored 20 points, the Sacramento Kings came up short against the defending champions Dallas Mavericks 110-100 as Shawn Marion put up a double-double and the second nationally televised game featured a re-match from last Sunday’s overtime thriller in Madison Square Garden as the New York Knicks battled the Chicago Bulls without Derrick Rose, but this time the outcome was different as the Bulls cruised to a 98-86 victory with Rip Hamilton finally delivering what he was brought in to do and scored 20 points.

The playoff picture in the NBA is starting to take shape as the Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat as expected have already clinched a playoff berth for the Eastern Conference, while in the Western Conference, the San Antonio Spurs have clinched their playoff berth and the Oklahoma City Thunder have clinched their division.
