|Floyd Money Mayweather defeats|
What a jam packed weekend in the world of sports over the weekend as we kick off a freshhhhhh Spiritual Sports Segment with in the ring as Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather duked it out with Miguel Cotto for his WBA junior middleweight title belt as Mayweather had too much speed and was too accurate for the Puerto Rican sensation, but it was not easy as Cotto battled toe-to-toe with Money and even gave Mayweather a damaged snout. However comma I digress as Mayweather lite up Cotto in the 12th round to seal the deal in a unanimous as two judges scored 117-111 and the third 118-110 as Money took home a record guaranteed $32 million and stated “he's a tough competitor…..he came to fight; he didn't just come to survive. I dug down and fought him back.”
The National Basketball Association had four playoff games balling on a Sunday as the Joakim Noah was on the sideline with an ankle injury as his Chicago Bulls came up a weeeee bit short against the Philadelphia 76er’s as Spencer Hawes…who? Spencer Hawes man, lead the 76er’s with 22 points as they take a Texas sized 3-1 series lead, Amare Stoudemire was back in the lineup with his stitched up fire extinguished hand as the New York Knicks muscled past the Miami Heat 87-89 as Carmelo Anthony exploded for 41 points and Fire Man Amare was a beast with 21 points and 10 boards as the Knicks avoid the sweep as the Heat still lead the series 3-1, the Atlanta Hawks were literally spanked by the Boston Celtics 101-79 as with Paul Pierce’s 24 points and Rajon Rondo’s 16 dimes as the Celtics seize a 3-1 series lead and the LA Lakers knocked off the Denver Nuggets 92-88 with 22 game high points from Kobe Bryant as the Lakers control with a 3-1 series lead. Other winners on Saturday were the Indiana Pacers, the Lob City Clippers, the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder swept the defending champion Dallas Mavericks.
The National Hockey League had two playoff games on the frozen pond yesterday as the St. Louis Blues were out skated by the LA Kings 3-1 as Dustin Brown scored two goals as the Kings swept the Blues to advance to the Conference Finals and the Philadelphia Flyers couldn’t contain Dainius Zubrus’ two goals for the New Jersey Devils and lost 4-2 as the Devils hold a 3-1 lead.
The bats were swing in the American League in Major League Baseball as the Chicago White Sox lost to the Detroit Tigers 3-1 with The Prince going yard, after 6 hours, 7 minutes and 17 innings, the Baltimore Orioles truly outlasted the Boston Red Sox 9-6 with 2 homeruns from J. J. Hardy and Chris Davis, who is the designated hitter gets the win since the Orioles were out of pitchers, the Oakland A’s out swung the Tampa Bay Rays 9-5 as Brandon Inge drives in 4 RBI’s and belted out a home, Robinson Cano put up a grand slam as the New York Yankees blasted the Kansas City Royals 10-4, while Albert Pujos FINALLY gets his first homerun as a LA Angel and as they got past the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3, the Minnesota Twins couldn’t handle the Seattle Mariners and lost 5-2 with Mike Carp getting his first homerun of the season and the Texas Rangers was defeated by the Cleveland Indians 4-2 as Jason Kipnis belted a homerun to wrap up American League scores and keep your ears tuned as I run down score in the National League in the second segment.
And in the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby, the race was decided by a measly 1 ½ lengths as I’ll Have Another managed to get by Bodemeister in the final furlong to win the prestigious race with a rookie jockey that was practically unknown until the win. And in sad and shocking news at Churchill Downs, a man’s body was found in the stable area of the race track and police are treating it as a homicide.
