Tiger Woods Roared, NBA Playoffs, AL-MLB, NASCAR Results & NFL Quick Hits: 6/4, Vol 156, 1st Edition

The magic is number 73!  Tiger Woods is back and officially on the prowl for more wins as he stormed from four back at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance with a purse of $6.2 million dollars to capture his 73rd PGA Tour victory while tying legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus for 2nd all- time in PGA Tour wins.  Tiger’s round was highlighted by dropping a birdie at the 16th hole, which was should have been a par and that old familiar Tiger fist pump that we have seen time and time again came to life and Tiger finished with a 9 under par and a take home earning of more than $1.1 million dollars while Andres Romero and Rory Sabbtini finished tied for 2nd and Daniel Summerhays and Spencer Levin tied for 4th.

Game 4 in the Eastern Conference Finals was balling last night as the Boston Celtics battled the Miami Heat and the Celtics squandered a 15 point lead and the Heat came back with a chance to win it on D Wade’s shot, but it wasn’t meant to be as the Celtics knock off the Heat 93-91 as Kevin Garnett poured in 23 points and Rajon Rondo pass out 15 dimes and in the Western Conference Final on Saturday, the Oklahoma City Thunder stormed past the San Antonio Spurs to even the series at four games and Game 5 will tip off tonight at 9p EST.

The Stanley Cup Finals resume tonight at 8pm EST as the New Jersey Devils try to notch their first win of series against the LA Kings and avoid going down 3 games to none.

Major League Baseball had their bats swinging yesterday in the American League as the New York Yankees hammered the Detroit Tigers 5-1 as A-Rod and Derek Jeter both went yard, the Boston Red Sox were pounded by the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1 as well with 4 RBI’s from Jose Bautista, the Tampa Bay Rays were blasted by the Baltimore Orioles 8-4 as Mark Reynolds launched a homerun, the Oakland A’s were SHUT OUT by the Kansas City Royals 2-0 with a homer from Eric Hosmer, while the Minnesota Twins knocked off the Cleveland Indians 6-3 and the Texas Rangers muscled past the LA Angels 7-3 as Nelson Cruz belted a homerun.

NASCAR raced around the track  yesterday as Jimmie Johnson won his 7th race of the season at Dover International Speedway, while Kevin Harvick finished 2nd, Matt Kenseth came in 3rd and Dale Earnhardt , Jr. finished 4th and Joey Lagano captured the checkered flag in the Nationwide Series.

For your NFL Quick Hits, Jacksonville Jaguars first-round draft pick receiver Justin Blackmon was arrested on an aggravated DUI charge Sunday after authorities in Oklahoma said he and blew a .24, which is three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system, defensive end Osi Umenyiora and the New York Giants finally have reached an agreement on a restructured contract and terms were undisclosed, Minnesota Vikings fullback Jerome Felton has been arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired and refusing to submit to a chemical test. the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission, the agency that operates the Edward Jones Dome on Friday rejected an improvement plan for the 17-year-old stadium proposed by the St. Louis Rams, the Minnesota Vikings have signed first-round draft choice Harrison Smith to a four-year deal and finally, the million-dollar home of Eddie George and his wife Tamara will be auctioned off June 7, to the surprise of the George’s as they stopped making payments several months ago because the mortgage company refused to discuss the matter with them because they were current on their payments.

They ran the bases in Major League Baseball in the National League as the defending champs St. Louis Cardinals were clobbered by the New York Mets 6-1 with 3 RBI’s from Kirk Nieuwenhuis, the Atlanta Braves eked out a one run win against the Washington Nationals 3-2, the Miami Marlins ousted the Philadelphia Phillies 5-1 as Carlos Zambrano not only got the win but also belted a homerun, the Cincinnati Reds were defeated by the Houston Astros 5-3 with a homerun from Justin Maxwell, the LA Dodgers lost to the Colorado Rockies 3-2 as they swept the Dodgers, while the Chicago Cubs SHUT OUT the San Francisco Giants 2-0 as Barry Zito notches his 150th career win and the Arizona Diamondbacks SHUT OUT and annihilated the San Diego Padres 6-0 as Trevor Cahill tosses the complete game shut-out.

The Ladies of the WNBA had five games on tap yesterday as the Washington Mystics were defeated by the Connecticut Sun 94-86 as Tina Charles lite up the scoreboard for 30 points, the New York Liberty demolished the Indiana Fever 87-72 to get their first win of the season with 25 points from Cappie Pondexter, the Phoenix Mercury got the win 79-72 over the Tulsa Shock 79-72 with a double-double from DeWanna Bonner with 23 points and 13 glass grabbing rebounds, while the defending champions Minnesota Lynx remained undefeated as they got past the San Antonio Silver Stars 83-79 with 17 points from Rebekkah Brunson and the LA Sparks edged out the Seattle Storm 67-65 with a double-double from Candace Parker as she scored 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The French Open is getting down to the red clay nitty gritty as the 4th round concluded with top seeded Novak Djokovic had to go the distance against 22nd seeded Andreas Seppi, but got the win 4-6, 6-7, 6-3, 7-5 and 6-3 and the 3rd seeded Roger Federer outlasted David Goffin in four sets 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 and 6-4, while the ladies had four matches and 6th seeded Samantha Stosur won against Sloane Stephens in straight sets, 15th Dominika Cibulkova defeated and got the upset win over top seeded Victoria Azarenka, while Sara Errani won against Svetlana Kuznetsova in straight sets and Angelique Kerber got the win in straight sets over Petra Martic.

Antonio Tarver needed some late round heroics to avoid getting the lost against unbeaten cruiserweight Lateef Kayode as both men fought to a draw as Kayode retains his WBO cruiserweight belt and middleweight Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillin remained undefeated as he won a unanimous  decision over Winky Wright, Austin Trout retained his WBA super welterweight title against Delvin Rodriguez and Leo Santa Cruz obtained the vacant IBF title ove Vusi Malinga.
