Penn State Punished!
In news that I reported on as it happened on my Twitter page @ceejaysports, NCAA President Mark Emmert handed out unprecedented punishment to Penn State, which the university agreed upon, but apparently without the approval of the Board of Trustees.  The punishment, which some could argue, was harsher than the so called ‘death penalty’, which would have shut down the program for a year or more according to Penn State President Rod Erickson, was handed out without the typical investigation by the NCAA and the usual customary 90 day time frame for universities to respond.  As the punishment was outlined, students, alumni, staff and others were gasping for air as Penn State will have to pay $60 million dollars, over a five year period, which is equivalent to one year of football revenue, into an endowment fund for external programs preventing child sexual abuse or assisting victims, they will face a four year football postseason ban, along with the reduction of 10 initial and 20 total football scholarships each year for a year period. In addition, the school must vacate wins from 1998-2011, thus knocking Joe Paterno off the mountain top for most and the late Eddie Robinson of Grambling State now has record for most college football wins at 408.
Major League Baseball had five game in the American League last night as the Kansas City Royals were crushed by the LA Angels 6-3 as the Angels secured the win off of Kendrys Morales’ 3 pinch hit RBI, the New York Yankees muscled past the Seattle Mariners 4-1 as Ichiro Suzuki made his debut and A-Rod going yard for his 15th homer of the season, while the Baltimore Orioles lost to the Cleveland Indians 3-1 as Shin-Soo Choo got his 12th homer of the season, the Boston Red Sox was manhandled for the second night in a row by the Texas Rangers 9-1 with Mike Napoli going yard and the Minnesota Twins were put in check by the Chicago White Sox 7-4 as Adam Dunn blasted his 29th homer of the season.
NBA Quick Dribbles, the Chicago Bulls are finalizing details on a one-year deal for Marco Belinelli while also putting finishing touches on a deal that would bring Chicago native Nazr Mohammed to the Bulls, a source familiar with the situation told ESPNChicago.com's Nick Friedell.  In addition, they are also expected to decline to match the Houston Rockets' three-year, $25.1 million offer to Omer Asik, shooting guard Randy Foye has signed a one-year deal with the Utah Jazz, and finally, the Los Angeles Clippers signed free agent center Ryan Hollins agreeing to a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum.
