USA Women's Soccer, PSU Players Unite, NBA News w/ Andrei Kirilenko & AL-MLB Scores: 7/26, Vol. 194, 1st Edt'n

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief’s to bear….and what a privilege to carry, everything to God in prayer!  Good morning and welcome back to Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel Radio better than when you it yesterday, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!  Here We Go!

Penn State football players stand
united and staying put
Major League Baseball had a plethora of games on the diamond as the American League had several afternoon games of its seven game lineup starting with the Minnesota Twins getting annihilated by the Chicago White Sox 8-2 as Alex Rios and Dayan Viciedo each belted their 16th homers, the Kansas City Royals were manhandled by the LA Angels 11-6 as with 3 homers from 3 different Angels, the New York Yankees knocked off the Seattle Mariners 5-2 as Jayson Nix’s 3 run double sealed the deal, the Tampa Bay Rays muscled past the Baltimore Orioles 10-1 as Ryan Roberts belted his 1st homer and David Price notched his 14th MLB leading win, while the Detroit Tigers defeated the Cleveland Indians 5-3 despite 2 homers from the Indians, the Boston Red Sox couldn’t handle the Texas Rangers and lost 5-3 as Nelson Cruz launched a homer and the Oakland A’s hold up, hold up….this possibly can’t be right….just bear with me while I double check this....wow, okay the Oakland A’s literally spanked, SHUT OUT and plain ole embarrassed the Toronto Blue Jay 16-0…ouch, as Coco Crisp went yard twice.
USA Women’s Soccer got an early start to the London Games as they battled France and after 14 minutes, France lead the ladies of the U.S. 2 – 0, but of course, our ladies are resilient and didn’t back down from challenge as they stormed back behind Alex Morgan and Abby Wambach to notch the win 4-2.
In sporting news, as Penn State continues to settle into their penalties, President Rod Erickson admitted things could have been much, much worse if they did not accept the current penalties, the university would have faced a four year death penalty, which would have shut down the football for four years.  While the penalties are harsh indeed and especially hitting the players hard as they will not be able to participate in a bowl game for four years, but given the option to transfer without recourse, the players basically stood united and re-affirmed their commitment to the Nitany Lion family and stated in part “this team has taken on more adversity than any team has faced in history, which is a testament to our commitment to our team's character, our fans, and our university. One man didn't build this program, and one man sure as hell cannot tear it down. This program was built on the backs of the thousands of great men who put on the Penn State uniform. Today it is no different. WE ARE”  In addition, during Bill O’Brien’s interviews on ESPN yesterday, he mentioned his contract included a clause that if the university was punished, an extension would automatically kick in and that’s exactly what happened as O’Brien’s contract was extended by four years through 2020, ensuring that if the team is not winning, he will still have a high paying job.
For your NBA Quick Dribbles, the Minnesota Timberwolves are finalizing a two-year, $20 million deal with former Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko, according to a Yahoo! Sports report, the New Orleans Hornets, Phoenix Suns and Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a multiplayer trade sending 7-foot center Robin Lopez and forward Hakim Warrick from Phoenix to New Orleans, while moving forward Wesley Johnson and a first-round draft pick from Minnesota to Phoenix, in addition, the deal also sends guard Jerome Dyson and retiring center Brad Miller's $5.1 million contract from New Orleans to Minnesota, allowing the Timberwolves to clear space under the NBA's salary cap as they pursue free agents; the deal has not been announced pending the completion of some routine logistical matters. Veteran NBA forward Antwan Jamison was officially introduced yesterday as a LA Laker, and finally, the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired point guard Jeremy Pargo, a second-round draft pick in 2014, and cash considerations from the Grizzlies in exchange for guard-forward D.J. Kennedy on Wednesday.
