2012 Olympics w/ Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte & Jordyn Wieber & AL-MLB Scores: 7/30, Vol. 196, 1st Edt'n

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged…..take it to the Lord in prayer!  Good morning and welcome back to Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel Radio better than when you it last week, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!  Here We Go!

Ryan Lochte winning gold after
beating Michael Phelps in the
400m IM
The 2012 London Olympics kicked off over the weekend with an outstanding opening ceremony that featured the queen jumping out of a helicopter, in her pink dress, if I may add…and if you believe that go right ahead nonetheless comma as I start with one biggest upsets to start the games as Michael Phelps failed to medal in the 400m Individual Medley as Ryan Lochte captured gold, the men’s swimming team came up short of the gold as Lochte was chased down in the Men’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay and France captured gold, Allison Schmitt won silver in the Women’s 400m Freestyle, while the ladies captured bronze in the Women’s 4x100 Freestyle Relay, Peter Vanderkaay won bronze in the Men’s 400m Freestyle and in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke, Brendan Hansen won bronze.  Dana Vollmer won the Women’s 100 Butterfly in style by capturing the Olympic and World Records and Elizabeth Beisel took home silver in the Woman’s 400m Individual Medley.
The biggest disappointment in gymnastics for the ladies was Jordyn Wieber not qualifying for the all-around events as they wrapped up the qualifying rounds.
Kelci Bryan and Abby Johnston are coming with silver in the Women’s 3m Springboard Synchro and in archery; the men’s team won the first medal for the United States with silver.
So with the some of the early games having medal implications, China is currently leading the medal race with 6 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze for a total of 12 and the United States is not that far behind with 3 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze for a total of 11 and Italy has a total of 7.
The men’s team in basketball opened up competition against Tony Parker and his French team but Team USA had too much fire power and too many 3’s as Kevin Durant poured in 22 points, LeBron James added 8 dimes and their smothering defense did the French in 98-71 to breeze through the opening game.  And the ladies for basketball, they got off to slow start against Croatia but put the pedal to medal in the 4th and molliwoped Croatia 81-56 as Tina Charles and Candace Parker each put up a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards and 11 points and 13 boards respectively.
The American League in Major League Baseball was swinging their bats yesterday with seven games on tap as the Tampa Bay Rays SHUT OUT the LA Angels 2-0 as Zack Greinke got the lost in his Angels debut, the Kansas City Royals lost by a run to the Seattle Mariners 7-6 as the Mariners earned the sweep, the Chicago White Sox were SHUT OUT by the Texas Rangers 2-0, the Boston Red Sox needed 10 innings to get past the New York Yankees 3-2, while the Detroit Tigers walloped the Toronto Blue Jays 4-1 as Jhonny Peralta launches 2 homeruns, the Oakland A’s were crushed by the Baltimore Orioles 6-1 with 12 strikeouts from rookie Wei-Yin Chen and the Cleveland Indians was seeing double as they were pasted by the Minnesota Twins 5-1 as Justin Morneau went yard.
For your London Summer Olympic News, North Korea's Om Yun Chol, all of 5 feet and 123 pounds, won a gold medal by confidently lifting an Olympic-record 370 pounds in the clean and jerk Sunday at the London Games, basically lifting three times his body weight, troops, teachers and students are getting free tickets to fill prime seats that were empty at some Olympic venues on the first full day of competition, the International Olympic Committee said Luiza Galiulina,  a lesser-known name with no medal hopes, tested positive for the banned diuretic furosemide in a pre-Games urine control, and finally, the perfectly kept secret about who would light the Olympic cauldron caught even Britain's savvy bookmakers by surprise as a leading odds maker is refunding all wagers because it was too tough for gamblers to guess the identity of the seven young athletes who had the honor Friday night.

A. Dickey won his 14th game with 8 strikeouts, the Miami Marlins needed 10 innings to get past the San Diego Padres 5-4, while the Chicago Cubs also needed 10 innings to outlast the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals 4-2 with Anthony Rizzo’s 2 run homer in the 10th to seal the deal, the Philadelphia Phillies were pounded by the Atlanta Braves 6-2 as Jason Heyward hit his 16th homer, the Cincinnati Reds powered past the Colorado Rockies 7-2 to win their 10th in a row behind Jay Bruce’s 20th homer of the season and the Houston Astros FINALLY get off the 12 game slide with a win against the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-5 with a homer from Jordan Schafer.
NASCAR witnessed a historic day on Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as Jimmie Johnson captured his 4th Brickyard 400 tying Jeff Gordon as the only drivers to do so and he did in grand fashion with a dominate win and Kyle Busch finished 2nd , Greg Biffle 3rd and with his 4th place finish, Dale Earnhardt, Jr sits atop of the Sprint Cup points with 731, trailed by Matt Kenseth.
The PGA took is putter north of the boarder at the RBC Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ancaster, Canada with a $5.2 million purse as Scott Pierce drained 4 straight birdies and a big time par in the final hole for his 2nd career win with a 17 under par, one shot better than Robert Garrigus, who tied William McGirt for 2nd and trio of players tied for 3rd.
And we can’t forget about the ladies on LPGA tour as they wrapped up their Evian Masters in France as Inbee Parker won her 2nd tour as she also finished with a 17 under par 2 shots ahead of Karrie Webb and Stacy Lewis.
After moving up two weight classes, Robert Guerrero outpointed Selcuk Aydin in a unanimous decision to claim the WBC interim welterweight title in, but Floyd Mayweather, Jr owns the full WBC welterweight title and Guerrero becomes the mandatory challenger.
