The Golden Knight will not
rise in the postseason at UCF
Although the penalties were not as harsh as Penn State’s, University of Central Florida in my home city of Orlando, received a one year bowl ban and a one year men’s basketball tournament ban from the NCAA.  The punishment was handed out due to recruiting violations in the football and the men’s basketball programs.  In addition, since they were charged with a lack of institutional control, they also received five years’ probation commencing on February 10 of this year lasting thru February 9, 2017, however UCF will appeal the one year postseason ban for the football program.

With Major League Baseball’s trade deadline expiring yesterday at 4pm EST, there were plenty of moves as the Texas Rangers acquired veteran starter Ryan Dempster from the Chicago Cubs for two minor leaguers, a position player and a pitcher, the San Francisco Giants completed a trade Tuesday to acquire outfielder Hunter Pence from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for outfielder Nate Schierholtz, Double-A catcher Tommy Joseph and Class A pitcher Seth Rosin and they also traded the two-time All-Star center fielder Shane Victorino to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday for reliever Josh Lindblom and minor league pitcher Ethan Martin, the Cincinnati Reds added a piece to one of baseball's top bullpens, acquiring Kansas City Royals closer Jonathan Broxton, the Pittsburgh Pirates acquired former All-Star first baseman Gaby Sanchez from the Miami Marlins, the St. Louis Cardinals acquired bullpen help at the trade deadline, getting right-hander Edward Mujica from the Miami Marlins for 2010 first-round pick Zack Cox, the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday acquired lefty reliever Craig Breslow from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for right-handed reliever Matt Albers and outfielder Scott Podsednik, and finally, the New York Yankees acquired first baseman Casey McGehee from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Silas Redd Leaves PSU, NBA w/ Matt Barnes, AL-NL MLB Scores & NFL Quick Hits: 8/1, Vol. 198, 2nd Edition

After you've gone through the hurt, after you've gone through the pain, after you've gone through the storm, after you've gone through the rain…..you just stand!  Welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y.!

Silas Redd leaves Happy Valley
for greener pastures
in Southern California
Major League Baseball had a plethora of games on the diamond last night starting with the American League as the Tampa Bay Rays literally spanked and SHUT OUT the Oakland A’s 8-zilch as James Shields pitched a complete, 3 hit game while amassing 11 strikeouts, the Toronto Blue Jays were pummeled by the Seattle Mariners 7-2 as Dustin Ackley homered, the Baltimore Orioles manhandled the New York Yankees 11-5 as Chris Davis got his 18th homer of the season, while the Detroit Tigers was defeated by the Boston Red Sox 4-1 as the game was called at the top of the 6th inning due to rain, the LA Angels continued to chase down the Texas Rangers and went on to blast  the Rangers 6-2 as Albert Pujos went yard twice, the Cleveland Indians were tomahawked by the Kansas City Royals 8-3 with 3 RBI’s from Jarrod Dyson and the Chicago White Sox escape with a one run win against the Minnesota Twins 4-3 with help from A. J. Pierzynski’s 2 run homer.
And for your National League scores, the Miami Marlins were pounded by the Atlanta Braves 7-1 with Brian McCann’s 18th homer, the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals rocked the Colorado Rockies 11-6 as 3 Cardinals belted homeruns, the Arizona Diamondbacks crushed the LA Dodgers 8-2 as Paul Goldschmidt went yard, the New York Mets was hammered by the San Francisco Giants 4-1 as Tim Lincecum struck out 7 batters, while the Philadelphia Phillies outmuscled and SHUT OUT the Washington Nationals 8-0 as Jimmy Rollins gets an inside the park homerun, the San Diego Padres lost 7-6 to the Cincinnati Reds with 3 Reds going yard, the Pittsburgh Pirates SHUT OUT and devastated the Chicago Cubs 5-0 as A. J. Burnett pitched a complete one hit game and the Houston Astros were demolished by the Milwaukee Brewers 10-1 as Corey Hart launches his 20th homer of the season.
In sporting news, Silas Redd has traded his blue and white for cardinal and gold and has taken his talents to the Southern California. Redd, who was Penn State’s prolific running back has decided to transfer to USC after several days of meetings with head coach Lane Kiffin and star quarterback Matt Barkley.  Redd will have two seasons of eligibility remaining and will be able carry the rock this season since the NCAA allows any player from Happy Valley to transfer without recourse.  Of course, many would have applauded him if he stayed, but in my perspective, you really can’t blame him for leaving.
For your NBA Quick Dribbles, former Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes is out of jail after being arrested on suspicion of threatening a police officer who stopped him for a $26,000 traffic warrant for driving on a suspended driver’s license, Brandon Rush agreed to an $8 million, two-year deal Tuesday to stay with the Golden State Warrior after becoming the team's most reliable reserve last season, the Chicago Bulls signed guard Nate Robinson, the team announced on Tuesday, free agent forward Carl Landry is headed to the Golden State Warriors on a two year, $8 million dollar deal,  and finally, the Los Angeles Clippers acquired guard Willie Green from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for the draft rights to Sofoklis Schortsanitis.
For your NFL Quick Hits, the Seattle Seahawks have signed wide receiver Braylon Edwards,  New York Giants safety Tyler Sash has been suspended by the NFL without pay for the Giants' first four games for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances, the NFL has suspended Green Bay Packers linebacker Erik Walden for the regular-season opener for violating the league's personal conduct policy, and finally, Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley's court hearing on a marijuana possession charge in Alabama has been delayed until November 27.

Michael Phelps 19th Medal, Women's Gymnastics Win Gold & Alyson Felix: 8-1, Vol. 198, 1st Edt'n

I've gone through the fire and I've been through the flood, I've been broken into pieces, seen lightning' flashing from above, but through it all I remember, that He loves me, and He cares, and He'll never put more on me, than I can bear!  Good morning and welcome back to Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel Radio better than when you it yesterday, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!  Le’ Go!

Michael Phelps celebrates his
historic 19th Olympic medal
USA Women's Gymnastics team aka
'The Fierce Five'
captures the golden moment
The 2012 London Olympics witnessed history yesterday as Michael Phelps not only tied the Olympic record held by Larisa Latynina of Russia for 18 Olympic medals by winning the silver medal in his signature event the 200m Butterfly, but as he prepared to swim the last leg in the Men’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay, all he had to was avoid any major blunder and cruise to victory.  And that’s exactly what he did as Phelps coasted to give the Americans the win and his 19th medal, 15 gold total and afterwards Phelps stated “I've put my mind to doing something that nobody had ever done before and this has been an amazing ride.”  While the men celebrated their win, Allision Schmitt who swimming star meter is gaining momentum, dominated the Women’s 200m Freestyle as she struck gold and the ladies in gymnastics accomplished something that hasn’t been done since 1996 and The Fierce Five of Jordyn Wieber, Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Kyla Ross won gold in dominating fashion.  Another set of ladies marched on to their journey to strike gold as the women’s soccer team edged out North Korea 1-0 and the men in water polo had a tough go against Romania, but remained perfect with a 10-8 victory and the men’s beach volleyball team also remained perfect by beating Spain in three sets.
Venus Williams advances on in tennis while Andy Roddick was ousted by Novak Djokovic and after nearly retiring, but coming back for one Olympic run, Vincent Hancock struck gold in men’s’ skeet.  Team USA in men’s basketball started slow and lead Tunisia by only 13 at halftime, but the 2nd half was a totally different game as the combination of Deron Williams, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, Andre Igoudala and Carmelo Anthony opened a 21-3 run and the Americans never looked back and went on to rout Tunisia 110-63 as Anthony and Love scored 16 points apiece.
So after four days of competition, China and the United States are neck and neck in total medal count of 23 as China has 13 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze while the good old USA has 9 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze and Japan is in third with 13 total medals.
For your London Olympic News, Serena Williams will not participate in mixed doubles and will concentrate here energy toward singles and doubles competition with her sister Venus, Alyson Felix defended her position on not conceding her spot in the 100 meters to Jeneba Tarmoh, in which both ladies finished tied for third to make the team and Felix stated “everyone just expected me to give up this spot, because I think lots of people ... know me and they know that I'm seen as this very nice girl. But it's not just about me….it's about Bobby (her coach) and the time he invested in me. It's about my parents and the sacrifices they made, my brother and the agents that are working with me and just everyone who's invested their time in me”, two-time Olympic beach volleyball gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings said she won't let pinkeye affect her performance in the London Games, double-amputee Oscar Pistorius will be allowed to run any part of the Olympic 4x400-meter relay at the London Games, Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry dropped in on the British Olympic team's official residence to wish them good luck and to admire the bronze medal won by swimmer Rebecca Adlington, a female judo fighter from Saudi Arabia will be allowed to compete in the Olympics wearing a form of headscarf after a compromise was reached that respects the "cultural sensitivity" of the Muslim kingdom, a U.K. teenager was arrested and cited for harassment Tuesday for posting malicious Twitter messages directed at British Olympic diver Tom Daley, police said, and finally, organizers at the London Olympics say 2.1 million people attended events in the first three full days of competition.
