T. O. playing football

The National League had seven games running the bases as the Atlanta Braves pummeled the Philadelphia Phillies 6-1 as Jason Heyward belted his 18th homer, the Arizona Diamondbacks were SHUT OUT and blasted by the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-0, the Washington Nationals needed 11 innings to get past the Houston Astros 5-4 as a series of errors did the Astros in, the Cincinnati Reds lost 6-3 to the Milwaukee Brewers as 3 Brewers launched homeruns, while the San Francisco Giants were walloped by the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals 8-2 as Carlos Beltran went yard for the 26th time, the Chicago Cubs were SHUT OUT by the San Diego Padres and the Colorado Rockies were SHUT OUT  by the LA Dodgers 2-0.
For your NBA Quick Dribbles, Yahoo! Sports reported on Monday that longtime general manager of the Utah Jazz Kevin O'Connor, is being promoted in his executive role and being replaced in day-to-day duties by San Antonio Spurs assistant GM Dennis Lindsey and the Sacramento Kings extended head coach Keith Smart's contract through the 2013-14 season on Monday as his current contract had been set to expire after the upcoming season.
For your NFL Quick Hits, after the Seattle Seahawks wider receiver corp was decimated by injuries, the Seahawks turned to none other than Terrell Owens and signed him to a one year deal worth $1 million dollars and T. O. tweeted “God is good. Thankful. Grateful. To ALL my new teammates & the "12th Man"... Let's Do This!!” This ought to be interesting.  Cleveland Browns coach Pat Shurmur announced what had been an open secret after practice on Monday that Brandon Weeden, the #22 overall pick in this year’s draft, will start Friday night in Detroit, Jacksonville Jaguars signed first-round pick Justin Blackmon on Monday to a contract that will be worth about $18.5 million for four years, which is the maximum for a fifth pick under the NFL's rookie wage system, the Denver Broncos sign veteran linebacker Keith Brooking, and finally, former Philadelphia Eagles running back Reno Mahe pleaded no contest Monday to accusations that he stole thousands of dollars in gasoline, a deal that means no jail time and possibly having the case dismissed.  Dude, I know gas prices are high as heaven, but come on man?!

Several Penn State trustees have united in filing an appeal yesterday with NCAA which dropped harsh penalties against the university following the Freeh Report findings on the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal.  The trustees state the consent decree the president of Penn State Rod Erickson signed to agree to the NCAA’s sanctions was null and void since Erickson lacked the legal authority to enter the agreement without the board’s approval.  The appeal also includes the following challenges and is expected to be a precursor to a federal lawsuit seeking a judge to invalidate the sanctions:
1.         The NCAA did not give Penn State trustees and the university due process when it did not follow its usual investigation and enforcement procedures
2.         The consent decree is fundamentally unfair because it relies on the Freeh report, which "contains findings and conclusions not that are contrary to the evidence presented
3.         The sanctions are "excessive and unreasonable" because they inflict "permanent damage to an entire generation of student-athletes and coaches who were innocent of any wrongdoing during their time on campus

Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun's hip fracture could be a factor at the start of his 41st season on the bench, but likely wouldn't prevent him from a return to coaching, a prominent orthopedic surgeon said Monday, UCLA center Anthony Stover was dismissed from the team Monday for failing to meet the NCAA's academic eligibility requirements, an MRI on Monday revealed that starting offensive guard Tyler Evans tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee at the start of the Oklahoma Sooner’s camp, rocker John Mellencamp’s son Hud, walked on at Duke University even though he did not play football but was an accomplished boxer in Indiana, the NHL and the NHL Players' Association can agree there's still more than enough time to reach a new labor deal even though the union has yet to submit a counteroffer with less than six weeks left before the current collective bargaining agreement expires, Chicago Cubs right-hander Matt Garza has been placed on the 15-day disabled list and will be shut down indefinitely, and finally, Major League Baseball has denied the Los Angeles Angels' protest of their extra-inning loss at the Chicago White Sox last week, although it still hasn't convinced manager Mike Scioscia the call was correct.

Grenada's Kirani James, Women's Soccer, Men's Basketball & Total Medal Count: 8/7, Vol 202, 1st Edition

There were dangers awaiting me, destruction was sure to be!  But thank God for angels that were shielding, protecting and looking out for me!  Good morning and welcome back to Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema on Gospel Radio better than when you it yesterday, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!  Here We Go!

Kirani James wins gold
for Grenada
The 2012 Olympics rolled on Monday as pay my respects to Grenada as Kirani James gave his country their first gold medal as he just clobbered the competition on the way to finish line with a time of 43.94 seconds in the 400 meters and no American was part of the race since LaShawn Merrit had to withdraw due to an injury.
Team USA for Women’s soccer experienced a close call as they were fighting to reach the final as they battled Canada and the Americans reached down deep in overtime after a pep talk from Abby Wambach as she said “I know I've said this before….but it really does just take one moment and one chance, one moment of brilliance for somebody to do something individually spectacular."  With that said, that ignited a 6 yard header from Alex Morgan to put the ladies in the final round with a 4-3 victory.
Gymnastics was back in the spotlight as the uneven bars was the name of the game and Gabby Douglas simply ran out of gas in her routine and finished last as Russia’s Aliya Mustafina won gold, but that’s okay as Gabby is still golden and will be back for the balance beam.
Men’s basketballs tipped off yesterday this time against Argentina and only lead 60-59 at half-time.  But in the 2nd half, Team USA must have had some home cooking flown in as they went on a tear blew out Argentina 126-97 behind Kevin Durant’s 28 points.
The women’s 100m hurdles witnessed Dawn Harper, Lolo Jones and Sally Pearson advancing to the semi-finals, Sanya Richards-Ross had no problems advancing to semi-finals in the 200m, while Jenn Suhr finally captured gold in the pole vault and the men’s volleyball team locked up the top pool position with a win over Tunisia.
The United States is trailing China in total medal count as China now has 31 gold, 19 silver and 14 bronze for a tally of 64 while the United States has 29 gold, 15 silver and 19 bronze for 63 and Russia has overtaken the host country Great Britain for third place in medal count with 42.
For your London Olympic News, Algerian middle-distance runner Taoufik Makhloufi has been reinstated for the 1,500-meter final after he had been disqualified from the London Olympics for allegedly not trying hard enough Monday in the 800 heats, Olympians who earn gold medals receive a $25,000 prize, silver winners get $15,000 and bronze winners pick up $10,000 and The White House says President Barack Obama supports a measure by Senator Mark Rubio that would exempt U.S. Olympians from taxes on their prizes, BMX rider Arielle Martin of the United States has had surgery after injuring her liver and lung in a crash during practice last week that knocked her out of the London Olympics, two water polo referees who disallowed what appeared to be a legitimate goal will not officiate another match at the Olympics, and finally, American judo fighter Nick Delpopolo was expelled from the Olympics for doping Monday, saying he unintentionally ate something before the Games that had been baked with marijuana. Wasn’t there an unusual smell? Huh?!
