Major League Baseball in the American League only had five games on the half grass/half dirt field last night as the Texas Rangers were crushed by the New York Yankees 8-2 with the 15th homer from Nick Swisher, the Chicago White Sox lost by one run to the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 in 11 innings as Moises Sierra belts his 1st homer, the Detroit Tigers were pummeled by the Minnesota Twins 9-3 as Ryan Doumit went yard for the 14th time, while the Cleveland Indians smashed past the LA Angels 6-2 with a homer from Brent Lillibridge and the Tampa Bay Rays powered past the Seattle Mariners 4-1 with B. J. Upton’s 13th homer.
For your NBA Quick Dribbles, Michael Jordan stands to lose as much as $1.5 million in a possible foreclosure of a gym he invested in, since a judge recently rejected a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing by the company of Tim Grover, who owns Attack Athletics Gym on Chicago's West Side, a person with knowledge of the deal says the Houston Rockets have agreed to a one-year deal with Argentine forward Carlos Delfino, who recently helped his country finish 4th in the Olympics, and finally, the LA Lakers officially signed guard Jodie Meeks after coming to terms with the free agent last week to a two-year deal, with the first year at $1.4 million and the second being a Lakers' team option that could be worth up to $2 million with incentives, in addition, they and also officially inked Devin Ebanks to a one-year deal worth $1,085,000, after initially agreeing to a new deal with the small forward more than a month ago.
For your London Olympics Post News, U.S. soccer goalkeeper Hope Solo, who helped her team win a gold medal at the London Olympics, writes candidly about her struggles and much-publicized incidents in her career in her new due out today titled "SOLO: A Memoir of Hope,"  just hours after the close of the Olympics, Nadzeya Ostapchuk, a female shot putter from Belarus, tested positive for the steroid metenolone, was stripped of her gold Monday in the first case of an athlete losing a medal for doping at the London Games, and speaking of doping, even before the flame was out, IOC President Jacques Rogge said efforts to fight doping at the Olympics were a success.

The National League in the Major League Baseball were swinging their bats last night as the LA Dodgers eked out a one run win over the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4 as Shane Victorino belted his 10th homer, the San Diego Padres outlasted the Atlanta Braves 4-1 as Chase Headley slams his 19th homer, the Philadelphia Phillies SHUT OUT and crushed the Miami Marlins 4-0 as Cole Hamels pitched a complete game, the Houston Astros were  manhandled by the Chicago Cubs as Jeff Samardzija fanned 11 batters, while the Milwaukee Brewers were rocked by the Colorado Rockies 9-6 with DJ LeMahieu’s career best 4 hits and the Washington Nationals literally spanked the San Francisco Giants 14-2 as Danny Espinosa launched his 12th homer.

Jerry Grant...the 200mph Man!

At a time when Indycar and opened wheel drivers routinely go over 200mph, the original 200mph man passed away on Sunday at the age of 77.  Jerry Grant broke the barrier at Ontario Motor Speedway on September 3, 1972 with a speed of 201.414 mph to cement his name in the history books.  When he broke the record, Grant stated “when I got the checkered flag and slowed down, it finally hit me that I had broken the record. I came into the pits, and everybody was giving me the high-five. It was something people looked at in awe, and didn't really think was ever going to happen."  Rest in peace, Jerry….rest in peace.

Another legend has been called home to glory at the tender age of 92 in the world of baseball as Johnny Pesky was a legend in Red Sox Nation.  Pesky’s career spanned more than 60 years as a player, manager and broadcaster and was honored by the Red Sox when they retired his number and also had a foul pole name after him called the Pesky Pole.  Johnny, you too sir rest in peace.

Romero from the Cleveland Indians for minor league infielder Carlos Rojas, and finally, Phoenix mayor Greg Stanton practiced Monday with the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and ran drills with their practice squad however comma there’s only one problem, he came away with a broken nose after going up for a rebound......dude maybe you need to go play Pop Warner basketball…..huh?!
