The American League were running the bases last night with seven games on the docket in Major League Baseball as the Texas Rangers were SHUT OUT by the New York Yankees 3-0 as Hiroki Kuroda pitched a 2 hit complete game and Mark Teixeira belted his 23rd homerun, the Boston Red Sox were walloped by the Baltimore Orioles 7-1 off the mighty bat of Mark Reynolds who blasted 2 homers, the Chicago White Sox eked out a one run win 3-2 against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Oakland A’s were SHUT OUT and outmuscled by the Kansas City Royals 5-0 with 8 batters striking out against Jeremy Guthrie, while the Detroit Tigers trounced the Minnesota Twins 8-4 as Miguel Cabrera became the 1st player to reach 100 RBI’s this season, the Cleveland Indians were pasted by the LA Angels 9-6 as Albert Pujos got his 26th homerun and the Tampa Bay Rays were defeated by the Seattle Mariners 3-2 off the walk off single from Eric Thames.
After 41 days of what was supposed to be marriage bliss, Evelyn Lozado has officially filed for divorce from NFL football player Chad Johnson after she was allegedly head-butted this past weekend.  Since the domestic violence incident, Johnson not only was released by the Miami Dolphins, but his reality TV show was also canceled and Johnson released a statement that read in part “I will continue to be positive and stay training hard for another opportunity in the NFL. I appreciate all my fans and supporters and if I have disappointed you in any way, you have my sincerest apologies. For a couple few Quick News & Notes, former LA Lakers and current Philadelphia 76ers center Andrew Bynum will undergo the non-surgical knee treatment, known as Orthokine/Regenokine, in early September in Germany, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported, the University of Alabama athletic department committed 27 NCAA secondary rules violations over the past year, according to a summary on the school's website Tuesday, and finally, a court has delayed sentencing a British man who admitted spying on members of the Chinese Olympic swimming team in a women's changing room….come on man!

The National League was balling last night with eight games on the diamond with plenty of SHUT OUTS as the LA Dodgers SHUT OUT and literally spanked the Pittsburgh Pirates 11-0 and the Dodgers did use the long ball, the San Diego Padres were SHUT OUT and annihilated by the Atlanta Braves 6-0 as Dan Uggla belted his 14th homer, the New York Mets were SHUT OUT by the Cincinnati Reds 3-0 as Jay Bruce launched his 23rd homer, the Philadelphia Phillies SHUT OUT the Miami Marlins 1-0 as Jimmy Rollins leadoff homer was all they needed.  Somebody stop the bus!  The Houston Astros not only won but they manhandled the Chicago Cubs 10-1 as Lucas Harrell pitched 8 strong innings and notched 7 K’s, the Arizona Diamondbacks were demolished by the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals 8-2 with a homer from Matt Holliday, the Milwaukee Brewers lost 8-6 to the Colorado Rockies as Carlos Gonzalez accounted for 4 hits and the Washington Nationals were blasted by the San Francisco Giants 6-1 with 3 RBI’s from Brandon Belt.
