Lance Armstrong @ World Cancer Congress, AL MLB & US Open Results & NBA Quick Dribbles: 8/30, Vol. 218, 1st Edition

No rules, no religion, I’ve made my decision to run to you, the healer that I need. Lay me at the throne and leave me there alone, to gaze upon your glory and sing to you this song. Take me to The King, I don’t have much to bring….my hearts torn to pieces, it’s my offering. Good morning and welcome back to your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema on Gospel Radio better than when you it yesterday! I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y!  Let’s Get It Started!

Lance Armstrong delivers
speech at The World

The 2012 US Open showcased the 2nd round for the women and Kim Clijsters was upset by unseeded Laura Robson 7-6, 7-6 as she has played her last singles match and other notable winners that advanced were Li Na, Petra Kvitova, Samantha Stosur, Victoria Azarenka, Jie Zhang, Nadia Petrova, Lucie Safarova and Maria Sharapova.
The World Cancer Congress kicked off yesterday in Montreal, Canada as Lance Armstrong opened his speech by saying “My name is Lance Armstrong. I am a cancer survivor. "I'm a father of five. And yes, I won the Tour de France seven times.”  The congress came on the heels of Armstrong announcing last week that he will no longer fight doping charges and the U. S. Anti-Doping Agency stripped him of those seven wins.  But Armstrong, who maintains his innocence, donated an addition $500,000 to a joint venture aimed at giving more access to cancer care around the world.
For your NBA Quick Dribbles, free-agent center Eddy Curry and agent center Hilton Armstrong, who played in France last season, both reportedly worked out with the Brooklyn Nets on yesterday, a source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com, swingman Martell Webster has signed a free-agent contract with the Washington Wizards, who last played with the Minnesota Timberwolves last season, averaging 6.9 points and 3.6 rebounds, and finally, the Indiana Pacers have promoted Peter Dinwiddie, who previously served as the team's director of basketball administration, to vice president of basketball operations.

For your NFL Quick Hits, the NFL will open the regular season next week with replacement officials and said it was prepared to use them "as much ... as necessary" as the negotiations with the NFL and the officials union are at a standstill and the NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith called the league's lockout of officials "absurd" and would not rule out a players strike, Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Gene Smith told the Florida Times-Union on Wednesday that he has no intentions of trading holdout and the face of their franchise running back Maurice Jones-Drew, the maker of Michael Vick's protective gear Unequal Technologies, is ready to put Philadelphia Eagles fans at ease as CEO Rob Vito stated “I guarantee he will not get hurt”, as the protective vest  is a military-grade, battle-tested composite material that has DuPont Kevlar to protect athletes from on-field injuries, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten underwent another exam Tuesday on his slightly lacerated spleen and is healing progressively however comma his status for the season opener is uncertain, well I’m certain he will not play, the New York Jets, who became a national punch line last season because of their dissension-torn locker room, sent 19 players to a leadership training seminar Wednesday in nearby Bedminster, NJ in an attempt to ensure good chemistry, and finally, the NFL will file a motion on today in federal court in Philadelphia seeking to dismiss more than 140 consolidated concussion lawsuits that include more than 3,300 former players as plaintiffs, a league spokesman confirmed to ESPN.com.

Don't you bow, don't bend.  Don't give up, don't give in. Hold on and just be strong because God will step in and it won't be long!  For your Spiritual Sports Segment on Rhema Gospel Radio, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y.

NHRA & Mello Yello
have joined forces
For your Quick News & Notes, cruiserweight titlist Marco Huck, hoping to get back in the win column after a draw and loss in his past two fights, will make the 10th defense of his title on Nov. 3 when he faces former titleholder Firat Arslan, Lois Ann Goodman, the professional tennis referee who allegedly beat her 80 year old elderly husband to death with a coffee cup and used the broken handle to repeatedly stab him before judging a tennis match and getting a manicure, pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday and her bail was reduced from $1,000,000 to $500,000 due to her close ties to the community, her age and lack of a criminal record, David Nalbandian pulled out of the U.S. Open because of an injury on Tuesday, a day before he was scheduled to play 2009 champion Juan Martin del Potro, former Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Summitt will receive the U.S. Tennis Association's Billie Jean King Legacy Award, which honors people who have helped change the global cultural landscape, Richard Krajicek, the 1996 Wimbledon champion, is one of six members of the ATP's new competition committee, which will recommend possible changes to men's professional tennis, the Portland Timbers have hired Caleb Porter as their head coach for the 2013 season.
The NHRA will increase from 23 to 24 events in 2013 and will assume a new series name to go with a renewed title sponsorship agreement for Coca-Cola through 2018 and title sponsorship will switch from the Full Throttle energy drink to the Mello Yello citrus soft drink, PGA Championship winner Rory McIlroy will miss the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda in October because of a scheduling conflict, Tiger Woods and Notah Begay III, longtime friends and former college roommates at Stanford, helped lead the American side to victory in the NB3 Foundation Challenge at Turning Stone Resort's Atunyote Golf Club, Florida State athletic director Randy Spetman has signed a one-year contract extension to remain at the school through February 14, 2014, Notre Dame's recent suspensions of four players could actually be a sign the program is gaining an "edge" that will help it be more successful, Irish radio analyst Allen Pinkett said Wednesday and he stated “I've always felt like to have a successful team you've got to have a few bad citizens on the team. That's how Ohio State used to win all the time. They would have two or three guys that were criminals and that just adds to the chemistry of the team. You can't have a football team full of choir boys”, the FBI kept a thick file, 868 page file on Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, but it mostly involves threatening letters sent to him and his staff years ago, and there's no mention of his former assistant Jerry Sandusky, who was convicted this year of molesting boys, the bidding process for the semifinal and championship sites for college football's upcoming playoff will begin this fall, BCS executive director Bill Hancock said.
SEC officials will have a new look Thursday night when South Carolina plays Vanderbilt as each on-field official will be wearing a wireless microphone system similar to those used in European soccer and will allow all officials, regardless of their position on the field, to talk to each other, Texas A&M and Arkansas have agreed to move their annual meeting to Cowboys Stadium in Arlington beginning in 2014 through the 2024 season, the NCAA has declared two New Mexico football players, senior defensive linemen Rod Davis and Fatu Ulale ineligible for several games at the start of the season due to the university self-reporting impermissible benefits, three East Carolina receivers senior Dayon Arrington, sophomore Danny Webster and redshirt freshman Antonio Cannon, have been suspended for the Pirates' opening game because they violated undisclosed team policy, the Ottawa Senators have signed forward Kyle Turris to a $17.5 million, five-year contract extension, the NHL and NHLPA remained at an impasse in the latest round of collective bargaining talks as the deadline for a lockout looms, Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp is out of the lineup a day after he collided with the center-field wall, but tests showed no structural damage to his left knee and jaw, Roger Clemens is planning to make a second start on September 8 for the Sugar Land (Texas) Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League, Fox 26 in Houston reported Wednesday night, and finally, Minnesota Twins All-Star catcher Joe Mauer has cleared waivers, according to a report by Fox Sports, as it’s usually not a sign of a team's desire to get rid of an expensive star but more of a procedural move to gauge potential interest in case a legitimate trade offer were to come about.
