The National Football League was in full effect for the Thursday Night Football as the Pittsburgh Steelers was trying to avoid dipping below .500 and the Tennessee Titans was trying to get on the path of .500 and the Titans were off to a good start as they led 16-10 going into half-time, but the Steelers would strike first in the 2nd half as Ben Roethlisberger tossed the rock for 363 yards and in doing so became the Steeler’s career passing leader.  But the Titans would rally despite Matt Hassellbeck throwing a pick and get the win 26-23 on a field goal from Rob Bironas as time expired and they also received 91 rushing yards from Chris Johnson.

While one game witnessed the conclusion of a ALDS, another game will live to play another day as the Baltimore Orioles extended the game to 13 innings before getting past the New York Yankees 2-1 with the help of Nate McLouth’s homerun and in the 2nd ALDS, the Detroit Tigers SHUT OUT and literally spanked the Oakland A’s  6-0 as Justin Verlander pitched a complete four hit game SHUT OUT with 11 strike outs, tied for the most in postseason history in a winner take all game, to propel the Tigers to the American League Championship Series.

For your NBA Quick Dribbles, Arthroscopic surgery is a possibility for Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki if his sore and swollen right knee doesn't respond to a week of rest and treatment, after his shoulder kept him out of Wednesday night's exhibition loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, Lakers guard Kobe Bryant was able to practice Thursday, sort of, as he was dressed, but didn’t physically practice, during his final season with the Orlando Magic, LA Lakers center Dwight Howard said there were times when his left leg felt dead as pain shot through it from a herniated disc he was suffering with and finally, Brooklyn Nets shooting guard MarShon Brooks will be out 7-10 days with right foot tendinitis, coach Avery Johnson said Thursday.

College football was back on the Grid Iron kicking off Week 6 as Western Kentucky notched the 31-26 win against Troy in the Sun Belt Conference match-up as Kawaun Jakes threw for 255 yards and not one, not two, but three TD’s, UTEP was mangled and manhandled by Tulsa 33-11 in the C-USA Conference as Ja’Terian Douglas carried the rock for 128 ground pounding yards and Arizona State literally spanked Colorado upside the head 51-17 as Taylor Kennedy and Marion Grice had the hook up, holla if you heard them however comma I digress as Kennedy was on fire with 308 passing and a total of count ‘em 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 touchdowns and Grice caught 3 of those touchdowns to along with 101 receiving yards.

For your Lance Armstrong News, World Anti-Doping Agency director-general David Howman said Armstrong, pursued what appears to be a systematic doping program for a decade "probably with the knowledge" of people who were charged with detecting drug cheats…it’s not looking good for Lance, The International Olympic Committee  is looking into the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency's case against Armstrong to see if there is enough evidence to open an investigation that could result in the stripping of Olympic medals, five of Armstrong's teammates have accepted six-month doping suspensions, reduced from two years because they provided evidence that helped the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency make the case to strip Armstrong of his seven Tour de France titles, and finally, Michele Ferrari, the doctor who is a central figure in the Lance Armstrong doping scandal also is the target of an Italian criminal investigation that is nearing completion.
