Ndamukong Suh's big hit on
Jay Cutler which caused
bruised ribs
Monday Night Football featured the old school rivalry of the Chicago Bears and the Detroit Lions at Soldier Field and stats wise, the game was pretty much even on paper as the Bears defense proved to be too much for the Lions as the Bears held a 10-0 halftime lead.  In the second half, when the Bears QB Jay Cutler went down with a big sack from Ndamukong Suh, the crowd held their collective breaths as Cutler was later diagnosed with bruised ribs, but he returned and Bears defense held their own with 3 sacks of Matthew Stafford, one interception and the Bears forced and collected 3 fumbles as they held on to get the win over the Lions 13-7.

The San Francisco Giants
are the way to the
World Series
Major League Baseball had Game 7 of the National League Championship Series as the San Francisco Giants and the defending champions St. Louis Cardinals duked it out to see who would advance to the World Series to face off against the Detroit Tigers.  But the Giants left no doubt that they would be the team to represent the National League as they SHUT OUT and literally spanked and totally embarrassed the Cardinals 9-0 as Brandon Belt batted the ball out of the ballpark, alliteration, I Love It!

For your NFL Quick Hits, Green Bay Packers safety Charles Woodson has a broken collarbone and will be out approximately six weeks, the NFL will consider dropping the Pro Bowl if the level of play doesn't improve, commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday night, after a 1-5 start, one of the highest payrolls in the NFL and the worst record in the NFC, the Carolina Panthers announced Monday morning that general manager Marty Hurney has been relieved of his duties, coach Norv Turner said nobody from the San Diego Chargers used Stickum in a Monday night loss to the Denver Broncos on October 15 or in any other game, after he was released in August by the Washington Redskins, two-time Pro Bowler Chris Cooley was re-signed by the team to replace to injured Fred Davis, and finally, Cleveland Browns starting guard Jason Pinkston won't play again this season as he is still hospitalized with blood clots in his lungs and was placed on injured reserve Monday, ending his second year in the NFL after six games.

Anthony Davis was a beast in the
paint collecting 17 boards
As the National Basketball Association sets to kick off their season within a week, I’m going to stray from my usual stance of not providing pre-season scores of any sport and run down your NBA pre-season scores from last night as I get into practice with NBA scores and since it is a slow news cycle however comma I digress as the Toronto Raptors knock off the Milwaukee Bucks 104-95 with 21 points from DeMar DeRozan, Carmelo Anthony returned to his old stomping grounds at Syracuse’s Carrier Dome but his New York Knicks was defeated by the Philadelphia 76er’s 98-90 as Jason Richardson tied a game high with 23 points, the New Orleans Hornets were crushed by the Dallas Mavericks as the Mavs win was overshadowed by rookie and top pick Anthony Davis’ 17 rebounds, the Phoenix Suns blasted the Sacramento Kings 103-88 with 25 points from Jared Dudley, while the Utah Jazz was outlasted by the Portland Trailblazers 120-114 with Nicolas Batum’s 27 points and the Golden State Warriors were demolished by the LA Clippers 88-71 with a double-double from DeAndre Jordan’s 18 points and 12 boards.

For your NBA Quick Dribbles, Dwight Howard was recognized as the best defender in the league as well as the best interior defender when NBA.com announced the results of its annual survey of the league's 30 general managers on Monday, but Howard still wants to know why he isn't the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, since he was unable to secure a guaranteed contract in the NBA, Gilbert Arenas is on his way to join Tracy McGrady as sources on Monday confirmed a Yahoo! Sports report that Arenas is on the verge of signing a one-year deal with the Guangdong Southern Tigers, the NBA's general managers have picked the Miami Heat to repeat as champions and LeBron James to win his fourth Most Valuable Player Award, according to NBA.com's annual survey of the league's front offices that was released on Monday, the sale of the Memphis Grizzlies to an ownership group headed by Northern California tech magnate Robert Pera is poised for approval by vote of the NBA's Board of Governors on Thursday, Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant sat out of practice Monday with a strained right foot, and finally, Jeff Van Gundy, the lead game analyst for ESPN's and ABC's coverage of the NBA, implies that his brother Stan's deal to join the network did not work out because the league blocked the move, but ESPN and the NBA deny any such action….of course.

Lance Armstrong banned for lifetime
& stripped of 7 titles & face mounting
lawsuits to get money back
For your Olympic Sporting News, as announced on my Twitter page yesterday @ceejaysports, Lance Armstrong, once the prince of the cycling world, was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and banned for life from the world he once dominated.  The International Cycling Union, also known as UCI, accepted sanctions issued by the U. S Anti-Doping Agency and the president of UCI Pat McQuaid stated “Lance Armstrong has no place in cycling, and he deserves to be forgotten in cycling.”  If that wasn’t a blow to Armstrong’s day, SCA Promotions, at Texas based insurance company is demanding $7.25 million in bonuses back from the dethroned cyclist since the money was paid under false pretense.

Mack Brown now is not too
favorable of the Longhorn Network
Mack Brown is worried that the six hours a week he spends taping three television shows and the network's access to the first 30 minutes of daily practice may tip opposing coaches to player injuries, tendencies and schemes as they are broadcast on University of Texas Longhorn Network,  Edmonton Oilers forward Ben Eager and his brother have been charged with assault following a disturbance in a Toronto bar last weekend as they were charged with threatening bodily harm, causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon, New Jersey Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov suffered a broken bone in his foot while playing for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the KHL, the San Diego Padres said Monday that work will begin this week to bring in the fences in right field and left-center, and to move the visitor's bullpen from right-field foul territory to behind the home bullpen beyond the fence in left-center and finally, the Minnesota Twins have finalized their overhauled coaching staff, as they hired Tom Brunansky as the new hitting coach, Bobby Cuellar will be the bullpen coach and Terry Steinbach has been tabbed as the bench coach and catching instructor.
