Some
people say I'm crazy but, I can't explain the power that I feel when I call
your name. Said it's just like fire shut-up in my bones and the Holy Ghost is
moving and just won't leave me alone. There's something about the name of
Jesus….it is the sweetest name I know!
Welcome back to your HBCU College Football Wrap Up Show for Week 11 on
your Spiritual Sports Segment on a Sunday, alliteration, I love it, on
CeeJaySports.com, where I give you your sports twisted spiritually, but before
I kick it off, I give a major SHOUT OUT to all
those who have served and currently serving in the greatest military there is…Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines and I say Happy Veteran’s
Day, including yours truly.
So with that said, I’m C.E.E.J.A.Y. and Let’s Make It Do What It Do!
Ohhhhh
the Grid Iron was jumping in HBCU football as I kick off this
segment with the SWAC Conference as they had a full schedule of five games as
Prairie View was defeated by Mississippi Valley State 22-20 as Julian Stafford
was burning
the turf with 180 receiving yards
and a score, Texas Southern was hammered by Alcorn State 34-24 as John Gibbs
had 218 passing yards and not one, not two, but three TD’s,
Arkansas-Pine Bluff muscled past Grambling State 24-17 as Justin
Billings paid
the bills as he rushed for 130 ground pounding yards,
while Alabama A&M was walloped, whacked, and whipped, alliteration,
I Love It, by Jackson State 35-21as running back Rakeem Sims had 125 breaking tackles yards and 2 TD’s and Alabama State sneaked past
Southern by one measly
point 31-30 to avoid the upset as Greg Jenkins passed for 225 yards
and 2 TD’s.
The MEAC also had it
going on yesterday with a plethora of games that kicked off as Hampton
was crushed
by Delaware State 35-27 as Travis Champion only had 130 passing yards but had not one, not two, but three TD’s,
Morgan State was SHUT OUT and annihilated
by Norfolk State 30 – ZERO, 30 – ZIP, 30 – ZILCH ….ouch, as Nico Flores passed
for 216 yards and 2 TD’s, North Carolina A&T took
it to South Carolina State by blasting the Bulldogs 17-7 as Mike Mayhew said
move, get out
of the way, as he rushed for 141 yards, while Howard was literally
spanked by Georgia Southern in a
late season non-conference game 69-26, the Prince Hall Shriners Foundation
Diabetes Classic played out yesterday as Florida A&M escaped and got the UPSET
win over North Carolina Central 22-21 to celebrate their homecoming as Travis
Harvey had 120 receiving yards and the Might Wildcats of Bethune Cookman literally
stomped and literally smacked Savannah State upside the head 49-7 as Quentin
Williams put in double
time work with 103 passing yards and 2 TD’s and added 113 rushing
yards for good measure.
For your Week 11
standings in the MEAC, Bethune Cookman reign supreme at the Top of the Mountain
at #1 as they are undefeated in the conference and gain separation from North
Carolina Central who dropped to 4th with their lose, while Delaware
State, and Howard along with Central are all tied with an overall record of 6-4
and a conference record of 5-2 and in the SWAC, Alabama State still sits in the
King’s Chair at #1, since Jackson State knocked of Alabama A&M, they move
into the 2nd spot and A&M drops to 3rd in the East
and in the West, Arkansas Pine Bluff is remains #1 and Prairie View is 2nd
with a losing record.
